Wait a minute...there was a real ship in WWII called the Nip-i-gon [X(]
It is outrageous behaviour like that which lead to the PC pendulum swing in the 1980's.
BTW..this is the first kill for the Canadian Navy so far but RCAF Wellingtons have been persuading a few laborers on Baker Is to give their all for the emperor.

It appears the Kamikawa Maru must have circled around South of Noumea and is now operating with a Glen-equiped sub SE of Efate...the cheeky bastards.

Thanks Alikchi, BTW.
Probably they are coming to pound Luganville or perhaps hoping to catch some juicy transports with lots of young GI's aboard. The extra range of the Coronados is worth the upgrade. These boys were spotted about 700 miles away from the nearest Allied airbase. Perhaps Chennault's presence amped up their performance.

Wait a minute. The Astoria sails around the Pacific for 5 months and never runs into anything more dangerous than a sea turtle...then 12 hrs after Lt Col Imagawa has his retirement party the ship takes two jap torpedoes in her hull. Smells fishy to me.

What Mandrake DIDN'T tell us was that
Astoria was on a emergency Fast Transport mission to replenish the mysteriously low Ex-Lax supplies for a B-25 base. That, and, of course, for more prunes.
