well, if it is a normal shoe closet, 90%+ of the shoes are going to belong to his GF. i figured Nik for the athletic type shoe on the shelf just beneath the cat. The cat would thus have a tactical advantage when Nik was reaching for his pair of Nikes (or whatevers...)

I think you'll find the snakeskins are his.....if you remember his holiday photos at Pearl....you can just see him wearing them in the wider shots.........suited him as well...........

The "special occasion punting" man mean that he uses them to punt snakes. That way, any scuff marks would blend into the shoes actually improving the finish as he punts away...
