Every time Tracker starts up it creates a file "something(dot)lck" so as to lock the database from being used by
two processes at a time. If Tracker crashes or otherwise ends abnormally the file will sometimes not get
deleted when Tracker ends it's run. So unless you already have an instance of Tracker running, if that file (*.lck)
exists another instance of Tracker cannot be started and you'll get the error message you got. I got that message
one time after manually ending the Tracker task with Task Manager and therefore had to delete the lock file
manually before I could start another Tracker run.

Help -- just spent the better part of 2 hours trying to get this to work.

Trying to get release 1.10 to work on a Windows 7 64-bit system. I'm trying to run off of Java 6.

I've edited the batch file to point to where I have java 6 located --

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
pause

Nothing I do works. I still keep getting the "Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform"

Please see error message in jpeg attached.

I ran into some problems getting it to work too so I moved the java.exe to the Tracker folder and used this batch file line:
"java.exe -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar WitPTracker.jar pause"
And I don't remember if that solved my problem or not but it does end trying to run Java in IT'S folder.

EDIT: I think the operating system is trying to find pwsdll7.dll actually.

Thanks for the suggestion -- am at work at the moment but will give it a try when i get home.

The pwsdll7.dll file is in the folder with the rest of the Tracker files -- it was part of the v.1.10 download. Why would the program have any problem locating it?

Well shoot.......if it's actually there then the problem is over my head. Maybe that's not what it's not finding. Maybe there's
some other problem. Maybe the Java you're using is 32-bit. ???

That was it. I had installed the 64-bit Java 6, not the 32-bit. [8|] Seems to be working now with the 32-bit installed.

Thank you for your help!! [:)]

It looks like an out of memory error to me. Try using the "nomap" batch file instead of the regular batch file. That's the one I use.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

You can also edit the batch file and increase the different memory values by 128 each until it works.

I'll do that too. Thanks.

How to do it would be of great help as the older I become the less I'm able to do with the computer.

Can someone explain to me the difference between this and combat reporter? Is one preferred over the other for particular reasons? Thanks

Combat reporter looks just at the combat reports and sigint, which is then put onto a map and saves your combat reports over time. Tracker does some of the same but also looks at the actual save file to give a larger picture of the economics, oob etc.
It is much more involved, it's free and you should download it to have a look.

Not really necessary for US players, but it can be a help. Not really needed for smaller campaigns either.

Silent Hunter didn't you ask this same question about a month ago? fb.asp?m=3882095

Yes I never saw a response, from what I've been able to find combat report required one version of java be installed but this required another so before going through trying to get it setup I wanted to understand which most are using and why. I've got most of the basics down about the game now it's on to tactics what works and what does not work and I need something to help me analysis each turn, combat report is helping but never really understood the different in this and that.

WitPTracker used to be restricted to Java 6, but no longer. The latest version works with any release of Java.
