Home and ready to rest after a busy weekend. Really recommend the Royal Gorge ride. That is a lovely railroad and the food was magnificent. We rode the lunch train and had Beef Wellington, Salmon, and an excellent BBQ Pork. If you like train rides I really encourage the ride. Cumbres and Toltec is better (it takes most of the day while the RGRR is 2 1/2 hours) but this was quite pleasant.

China

We play hide-and-seek throughout the theatre trying to sting Allied airpower wherever possible. Dan has shifted a BUNCH of his Divebombers to ground support. Make a bunch of sense since he isn't using his CVs for any form of action other then carrying fighters. The Japanese have been managing to catch some of these missions and do pretty well when we do find them.

The four Fast BC of Japan reach northern Okinawa on the 13th and are not spotted. They will attempt to engage tomorrow. Cover is assigned to over 200 Fighters. Another 500 or so Fighters and bombers move into Shanghai and its neighboring base. We'll see what the morrow brings!

The BC TF sortied and caught 3 DDs who evaded contact but then the TF made it home to Naha without any interference. Disappointing but we had an EXCELLENT day in the air.

Japanese Convoy Route

The Allies finally try to interdict shipping traveling between Borneo and the Marianas. They get STUNG pretty hard trying to get at an empty TK TF moving west. While only 13-18 Franks escort the TF, American Dive Bombers attack in several waves. Net result is losing one TK and having two damaged in exchange for a BUNCH of DB. Five aces are created in one day.

NICE!

Several other places see excellent ATA results. Look at the number of P-51 shot down over Japan this day.

If there's one thing more fun than butchering an unescorted flight or two of SBDs, it's sinking a laden troop convoy. But the SBDs run a close second.

However you look at those numbers, it was a string of tactical victories, that is for sure. Well done!

Here is the current China situation. Multiple thrusts and it appears a northern offensive is imminent.

Order troops to the Manchurian border to create a line there. Eight ID (to join the troops already present) begin moving to the border...

Another day and another 50+ DB shot down. Got to admit I really like a steady diet of USN Dive Bombers!

Balikpapan

The last three giants of the Japanese Fleet, BBs Musashi, Nagato, and Hyuga arrive at Balikpapan. They stay just long enough to top off their fuel reserves and make for the Marianas. Covering them are Fighters from nearby bases and Sams from CV Hiryu. They head to the Home Islands to aide their smaller, older sisters--the Japanese Battlecruisers.

John, it’s been like 50 pages since I recall seeing a good ole fashioned “Banzai”. 

Hear hear. Dive bombers are part of the complete and balanced A2A diet. Be sure to also take your vitamins P, PBY and B too. [8D]

I believe that their was a 'plaintive' BANZAI when we creamed those APDs about a month ago...
