Tried something to shorten the waiting time.
But I guess we better wait for summer.

I've got a new mod in the works. Just preliminary artwork for now. When AE comes out I plan on using it as a base for the mod.
This is my first ship side for it. BB Harima from the famous alt_Naval site:
http://www.geocities.com/alt_naval3/index.htm
Based on this guy.

Japanese fleet is starting to take shape, at least for some of the heavies.
The standardized gray set should go well with AE ships. [8D]

Have a request of you fine artists out in WITPLand. I've always disliked the the add water and stir feel to the refit/upgrade design for two reasons. First, the ship gets its' new build at the same time it recieves 3-20 ppints of system damage...personally I would have had it damage the ship then once the system damage is zeroed the refitted fields kick in.
Second, the major rebuilds are treated identically to that of a simple paint job. Some of these rebuilds took almost two years.
So, what I am about to do for my post Midway scenario (for AE) is fiddle with the major refits given all the extra slots. What I'd like in the way of art are profiles of the ships as they would appear in the yards undergoing a major refit...ie, West Virginia basically was cut down to the main deck with only the turrets remaining.
Ship classes needing a major refit profile...
Lexington (twin 5" turret refit)
Nevada
Pennsylvania
California
Colorado
Pensacola
Northampton
Portland
Brooklyn
St Louis
Porter (DP upgunning)
Somers (DP upgunning)
RN C class (AA refit)
Chitose/Chiyoda (CVL conversion)
Ise/Hyuga (flight deck aft)
Mogami (flight deck aft)
Takeo (C turret removal)
Isuzu (AA Refit)
There are a few others, especially Japanese like Yawata Maru to CVE but I'll get to these once I'm deep into the OOB.
Thanks

Hey Ron, I have a late upgrade for the Saratoga over at Rogue's site with the twin 5"s, cut down stack, and torpedo blister. But like Don said, ship upgrades have been redone in AE.

Is there a "megapack" download for this artwork? I took a look at Spooky's site and came up blank.

Except for the Standardized Artwork Sets for Ships, most artwork is packaged by the contributer. There are many different styles of ship and plane art to choose from.
Also, see ROUGEUSMC's and DIXIE's WITP sites as they carry a lot of the modded art as well.

Oh yeah!! Upgrades and conversions each have a definable delay time, based on what it actually was. Ships upgrade (and/or convert) with delays running from a few days, for putting a DC rack on a DMS, to 9 months or more, for a full tilt boogie BB modernization. IRL sunk BBs, that aren’t sunk in the game, or were ‘upgraded’ on the IRL schedule, can nevertheless ‘convert’ to another IRL schedule and end up as a hot, nasty, item in ’44 or ’45.
Brothers TomLabel and BigB have provided art up the wazoo for all these possibilities. There’s over 30 pieces of US BB art alone, representing every single structural change made to every single BB in the US inventory. Just imagine the carriers and cruisers.

Hi Crimguy, if you are referring to my art, I sent it to RogueUSMC as well as Spooky. There is a pack of all my ships available there...

EDIT: This is a list of what I sent to RogueUSMC.

Really good work on the Alt_Naval IJN vessels Gary!! [&o]
I think the first thing I'm going to do with AE is create a scenario implementing the Alt Naval IJN. No other changes. I hope you don't mind if I steal these. [:)]

Well, yes, but I threw in all that other stuff too! I'd like to release a few simpler mods with simple premises that are less intimidating to people first. [:)] Like, what if Hood had survived? Or what if the Japanese had a better navy? Or if Italy had been knocked out of the war? Instead of trying to cram every cool idea into one scenario (Iron Storm).
Plus it'll give me quick, fun projects to do when I need to take a break from FFO, the Uber Project. [8D]
