Not worth any hard feelings. [:D]
I've been fortunate to only have to work for private companies. Much prefer that environment. Don't know what I would do if had to do otherwise. I'll deal with that pit if it ever shows up. [:D]
The line of corporations existing to make money for their shareholders might have been true in the past.
Today many a corporation is run by management which only cares in enriching itself. Many modern features of modern corporate life allows management to disregard the interests of their shareholders.
Which brings up another 'evil' of the whole public thing: most shareholders aren't people. They are other corporations, i.e. mutual fund and investment companies. Huge opportunity for a lot of evil and we had a recent perfect storm of it in the financial sector.
In a world run by messed up humanity, anything that reduces accountability is a bad thing and should be avoided.
People are comforted by being able to 'hand off' some of the inconvenient viscitudes of modern life to another set of hands so that they can do things that may be distasteful for the general public. Most people don't know how to invest or want to take the time and effort to do so, so they hand it over to a mutual fund investment company or buy an ETF that will do the same thing for 'em. They don't want to see the wizard behind the curtain, dude. Witness how few people want to know the gritty details about how food is produced for them as an example. They don't want to think about how, they only care about the bottom line mostly. Transparency isn't the same as accountability.
I'm OK with that duality / hypocracy.
I want the corporations in which I invest to be transparent in their financials, their annual statements, their quarterlys and their other dealings with shareholders. Everything else, including value judgements, is my domain. I don't care if Philip Morris produces and sells cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, so long as they're straightforward that that's exactly what they intend to do. And continue to give me a yummy 6.5% dividend yield return.
If I had a beef with what they do, then I wouldn't buy 'em. I also wouldn't claim the intellectual or moral high ground because I-by default or by design-chose not to do my homework and didn't know that my advisor bought some of 'em for Beta reduction in my portfolio.
For those that decry the curtain between mutual fund / money managers and their money, there's a simple solution: invest in non-public corporations or sit in cash. Anything else requires your acceptance of personal fault by either comission or omission.
And don't even get me started on 'living wage' or 'fair trade', please.
Agreed. 100%. Now it is time to go play trains at my parents house after supper.

That's very strange. What type of Mac do you have?
I have a Mac Mini. Not bad for the price. I got windows installed and then boot camp did it's thing. Still missing some drivers:
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Ethernet Controller
Network Controller
Bluetooth USB Host Controller
I still can't get on the internet. When I try, it says it's missing the network adaptor driver.
I did get the driver installed for my monitor. It still wouldn't give me any option other than 800x600. I had to head out for an appointment. Going to reboot it now to see if that makes a difference.

Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Mike Solli
I just found out from Apple that I have to use the 32 bit Windows 7. Ok, I can do that. [:D]
Why is that Mike?
No drivers for 64 bit Windows 7 version in Mac BootCamp?
BTW, you will have 3.2+ GB of RAM when suing Windows 7 32 bit (i.e. you will loose 700+ MBs - that that is not big deal since no programs actually use that much RAM anyway apart from specialized ones or the virtualization that I, for example, use regularly)...
Also, I always suggest Windows 7 32 bit to anyone with <= 4 GB RAM - less problems with 32 bit drivers compared to 64 bit Windows 7 drivers! [:)]
Leo "Apollo11"
They said it wasn't supported. I have no clue why. Anyway, I'm only going to use the windows side for AE and the other odd game that I may play. I've got 4 GB ram on this machine but 3.2 will be fine.

Hadn't heard about the 64 bit issue vs. 32 bit issue but then again the version of Win7 on my Core2 Duo "era" Mac uses the 32 bit version of 7 so it passed under my radar.
I have no troubles running 64-bit Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro with 4GB of memory. That's why I was curious what kind of Mac Mike had and what kind of RAM. RAM size could very well be an issue.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the HD being a flash drive. I have no clue if that means anything. Just different, that's all.

Are you running Lion or Snow Leopard?

Mac Mini.
ahhhhhh.....
This explains alot. Thats a whole different beast of Apple product.
Flash drives are no issue for Windows.........as long as you have the proper drivers for it. All our new Dell laptops ordered now come with SSD (flash) drives. Really speeds those puppies up.
Do you know from the specs what brand of SSD drive it is? The manufacturer website probably has a windows driver. course if your successfully booting to Windows, then obviously Windows is at the very least using a generic SSD driver.

This is a great example of what i'm talking about re: Apple's approach. They want it to be simple as possible, but by being simple, they tell you next to nothing.
The only specifics for the Mac Mini in "configuring" (i.e. customizing) it are:
Video -
Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor with 288MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory3
or
AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR5 memory
The PCI controller is probably their new "Thunderbolt" port. I think that might be propriatary.
Ethernet and wireless 'specs' say nothing other than speed. (no manufacturer) However i believe Broadcomm makes these. You can get drivers for it from Broadcomm directly but it's a hit or miss process. I did enable my MacBook Pro's wireless by this method without the Snow Leopard disk.

I'm using Lion.
Does this mean anything: Windows is using "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". The resolution is greyed out at 800x600. Makes AE pretty worthless. I can't do anything because I see only about a third of the screen. [:@]

Hi all,

I didn't see T on today. Unusual for that massive spambot cluster. After his moaning yesterday, makes me a bit concerned.
Did see him pop up on Facebook earlier today though. Maybe just taking a break. [8D]
Kristian is using Facebook? [X(]
Leo "Apolllo11"
He sure is, so I get the occasional angry message in Danish [:D] Makes a change from the ramblings of drunken servicemen that I usually get.

Yes....it means windows is using a generic driver to power your display. You need to get the dedicated driver for your graphics card. According to Apple's website you either have:
Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor with 288MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory3
or
AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR5 memory
If your documentation doesn't specify which you can try booting up in OS-X and looking at "About this Mac Mini" in the upper left of your main OS screen. Or you can bull through it by downloading drivers for both types of graphics cards and see which one Windows likes. The smarter written install packages will usually tell you if they can't detect a compatible product for the driver.

well just confirmed what Mynok said...
I show 64bit drivers on my Snow Leopard disk. You know Mike.....I could probably try email to you one of these and see if it installs. I think Apple uses broadcomm for all their Macs.
