Haha I am just having images of boats full of communists running from Sevastapol while a baby with monocle in eye and spreadsheets in hand makes sure all the new red tape in place is up to snuff [:D]

Meanwhile back in T34 news - Found him!

Turn 34 Army Group South

Plenty of Soviet action this turn, but little to show for it. The blizzard continues and it feels like the Soviets are getting desperate in their attacks but the Germans are defending nicely. Plenty of artillery and rockets pound the Soviets in the bitter cold.

The European zone turns to snow this turn and the Axis begin to plan their next attack in the Crimea. Ak'Manay will be first, Sevastopol will have to wait until clear weather.

Apparently after running home to Momma she was so ashamed she kicked him out. Hen-pecked, brow-beaten and bedraggled, Roko returns to the fray.

Turn 34 11-February-1942 Air

The Soviet air force again makes a reappearance to make a stand - fourth time lucky? With blizzard nearly over they may be here to stay - so it is back to work. This time not in Gorky though. Instead they present themselves for battle west of Saratov. But with so much of the Axis air forces in reserve for the winter it is baby steps

Turn 34 11-February-1942 Soviet Turn

When we get T35 we see what the Soviets have done in T34. Soviet attacks in the north have ceased and almost ceased in the far south bar some opportunistic attacks on our allies.

Turn 35 12-February-1942 Team

With thedude357 recovering from the Soviet poisoning of their Ragu sauce Crackaces covered the South this turn.

Meanwhile the Fuhrer made an impassioned speech in Nuremburg calling for a house rule in all WitE games prohibiting the poisoning of the other sides players.

Turn 35 Army group North

Operation Rudolf extends into it's second week. The Axis still have a temporary force advantage in the area and try to take advantage by trapping a Soviet division against the North shore of lake Ladoga. However the swampy terrain does not suit the armor and stuborn resistance from the Soviet 8th and 204th divisions leaves 40th pz corps short of it's goal
Another blow to the operation is the reinforcements that can be seen arriving by rail. Reinforcements that a succesful Operation Rednose would have delayed for several weeks.

Around Kalinin 18th army takes advantage of some weakening of the Soviet position to regain a bit of lost ground with some morale boosting victories.

Turn 35 18-February-1942 Centre

Having started the AXIS BLIZZARD OFFENSIVE last turn an unusual break in the weather allows us to go into overdrive. Out attacks now include many reserve activtions in offence too.

Clearly the Soviet focus has shifted southwards - Zhukov is now in action south of Tula. And the forces of centre have "electric slided" southwards to meet them.

Turn 35 Army Group South

More blizzard, more Soviet attacks. However, there is snow in the North Soviet Zone...but that doesn't affect the South too much. Some serious reserve activations stop the Soviet onslaught in their tracks. Some minor tactical victories by the Soviets, but overall the Axis line is holding.

Turn 35 18-February-1942 Air

The Soviet air force opens with airfield bombing which continues to target our storks.

Image

This turn we start bombing their airfields too. No Soviet fighters attempted an interception.

Image

Finally some I-153 were posted to the airfields in the north - our recon shows they will not fly either. So our Finnish bombers build up their kill totals and morale/experience levels.

Image

So long as freebies are being given, we will keep taking. Losses for the turn:-

I have to point out, the freebies here are courtesy of the AI. The I-153s that were bombed had some regiments on day and others night missions. Air doctrine is not an issue, nor is it recon spam, the planes just don't fly. I've believed for some time there is an issue with Soviet planes flying in the north, and this example does not change my opinion.

It was because the Soviet airbases were put in swamp hexes.
