Basic summary as to what has been unfolding as I'm way behind with this AAR...Bill and I are a week from 1943. I'll post the reports for detail subsequently with some maps, pics and the like.

Java: I guess this is the meatgrinder I guessed earlier it might become. Bill has managed to take Kragen as I withdrew to prepared positions at Madioen. Madioen is a forest hex as well so given the lay of the land with ABs map, it is the linch pin of my defence. I have ample air and land forces, despite the Dutch forces being seriously depleted due to a lack of replacements.

Timor: Lautem is Allied and the Japanese 16th Division is stranded and out of supply. This should also serve to divert forces from Java as Bill may attempt to extricate this unit. He has already committed KB to neutralize the airbases in the area, basically flattening everything South of Soemba and north of Oz. I have LR CAP flying over his LCU to counter any float plane evacuation or supply attempts.

Burma: I'm launching a limited offensive against both Tavoy and Rahaeng. I need to divert some of the forces Bill has been concentrating in Java and an early threat to Bangkok might just do the trick. The arrival of USAAF units allows this offensive to have some hope of succeeding.

China: Static. No supply available in quantity for either side to allow any real offensive action. Perfect.

South Pacific: New Guinea is being reinforced with Allied units as they slowly trickle in...my PoliticalPoints were negative for a few months as I kept the RN CVs which were slated to withdraw. I'm not a gamey type that would transfer off the FAA squadrons and send the CVs home so I was down by 2500 PPs at one point. The FAA squadrons were vital to the Java campaign so any delay due to a lack of PPs was well worth it.

Bill sent a small CVE group out hunting to try to disrupt the convoys between Panama and New Zealand and failed to contact anything. He has no idea how fortunate he was not discovering anything as three USN CV TFs (Lexington, Saratoga and Wasp) were patrolling in the vicinity. He did make a booboo however and allowed his CVE TF to return within LBA range of Fiji and sufferred bomb damage to two of his CVEs.

Central Pacific: Johnston Island continues to be a live training ground for my air and naval forces based in Hawaii. Recently a small USN TF destroyed a supply/evac convoy covered with only minimal escort. Many Japanese troops died as the entire TF was decimated. When this island is eventually assaulted I don't expect much resistance.

North Pacific: Nada, not even a Jap sub contact the entire war.

Logistics: Watching the combat has revealed that both Bill and I are suffering shortages in aircraft. I have no P40Es in the pool, basically sustaining the three squadrons in Java is draining all the production, and losses have not been excessive. The situation is so bad that no P-36 or the P-35 squadron has been able to upgrade. I've upgraded just two P-40B squadrons in a year.

Bill is still flying Nates and Claudes in front line units himself.

I've loads of supply everywhere as my convoys are running efficiently and in quantity. No convoy departs without at least one escort. I'm not sure how Bill's situation is but not having most of the DEI and Burma can't be good.[;)]

One must notice a lack of ABDA fighters over Timor and the Celebes. This is due to an ongoing battle for air supremacy over Java which is basically being fought to a standstill...as long as this is the case the ABDA forces on Java are secure.

KB also hits Dili, Timor.

Don't you just love the lopsided CAP vs strike design? I can't believe after all this time they still refuse to alter the strike selection split point from where it is now (befroe CAP phase, ensuring an unfair CAP advantage as each split gets jumped by CAP) to after the CAP phase where it bloody well should be. These three B-24s, simply because they chose a different TF in the hex are forced to endure the full fury of the entire CAP, despite being part of the Darwin strike below.

Yes, it is true I am not fairing well at this time.  I think when you updated to the v5 maps and I did not it made a big difference in the game.  Now that we are on the same sheet of music so to speak I am working on the situation.

How severely hampered are you in moving resources north with all those allied airbases close to resource centers? I realize this may be an intelligence/security issue and you may not be able to answer.

We are pretty open about everything regarding logistics anyway as this was a game initially started to establish just how over abundant supply was. I'm going to start posting figures today. I'm curious about his overall situation as Bill is still flying Nates, Vals and Claudes in front line units. Only new aircraft I've seen are Oscar IIas and Lizs. (Needless to say I've been stuck flying old planes as well due to heavy P40E attrition in Java.)
