OK, I've been arrogant and stupid with my Navy. Ley this be a lesson to everyone regarding what NOT to do as the US. Not only did I not invest in the Navy at all, but then I divided them up and let him chew them up in piecemiel forces. I've now done the improbably and unthinkable... I've given the Rebs control of the sea and am unable to support my Tallahassee landing.

Nothing left to do except retreat back up the coast. My real worry though is that I might be outclasses ay sea now. Forget supporting a Naval invasion, I'm not sure I have the stregth to prevent him from launching one! One thing is for sure though, I need to protect the little bit of fleet I have left.

Run away........

OK, now that my Navy has its tail between its legs, let's look at the ground situation out west. Still a bit strung out.

We'll finish consolidating Shermann's army so that we have a decent fighting force. Orme and the junker army will meander into northern alabama. A renewed fight for Nashville isn't far off.

I look into buying a new ironclad. That's what I'll need to have any chance of retaking the sea - and likely more than one. But it isn't going to happen this turn.

And our most recent turn...

The Tallahassee siege crawls on... again.

Looks like there was a skirmish in Tallahassee. A few nice buildings came online. Reinforcement numbers are becoming meaningful. I'm still way down, but I'm replenishing almost 10% of my losses every two weeks. That's nothing to snicker at. Disease hit the AOP though. That will put in a dent in my I-thought-it-was-starting-to-look-promising-reinforcement progress in a hurry.

When disease hits the AoP, it takes up some space...

England loves everyone. And I'm losing brigades due to low strength. Tallahassee? Hmmmm... might be worth suggesting that message be enhanced to say the unit name and the province.

Yep. Tallahassee is really really weak. If it hadn't just repulsed his division in the most recent attack, I'd be sure I was about to get kicked out of yet another province right before I complete a siege. Things are not looking good here, but maybe he'll hold off after his last failure. But it is time for those boys to take that city or die trying because there is no boatride home for them. (And though it is likely mean to say, I'd rather them die anyway than survive and suck up reinforcements that would be better used elsewhere).

Here's how things stand out west.

And I need to remember Jackson is just to the south with quite a force of his own.

While the infected AoP continues to successfully play the role of a decoy.

I'll send Sherman and the siege army from Bowling Green into Nashville. Orme will move north to convert that province while the junk army converts huntsville just to make him chew up time retaking rail lines in order to join Hood and Jackson. He has proven too effective with his rails to just leave them sitting there for his use.

Maybe I should be building ironclads, but I figure by the time they are done, he will have done his dirty deed anyway. The Navy will wait yet again. I'll build one more art and one more siege art. I need to win the ground war.... at all costs! Though I've wasted a lot of time, I'm getting back to basics. I am going to take Nashville like I originally planned.

I'm finally getting some decent income with which to work. The tradeoff is my supply levels are not where I'd really like them to be at. Next turn I'll work on getting Sherman what he needs to win. But Jackson is still well of with many occupied rail lines between him and Hood. I think I have a turn or two before he is ready to force the big fight.

And an engineering advance to end it all.

I am hoping the 2 ART units from this turn are the last I build for a while. I'll concentrate now on attachments and supplies to the units I have so as to get the most out of them.

I would just like to say that this AAR has been so interesting, it has not only sold me on buying the game, but also caused me to stop reading a book about the real Civil War in favor of keeping up with your contest. Bravo!

Keep up the good work and whip those rebs!

Thanks, but I feel like I've taken more of a whipping than I've given. [:D] Back from Vegas now, so it looks like we're going again...
