Hello, I have a more mature plan here. Starting in 1941, we gradually increased the production of HA35 and A6M2,instead of Rufe or A6M3.We need about 1,000 aircraft factories, of which 800 will be used to develop the A6M5c. This aircraft has armor and is capable of dealing with the F6F-3. From October 1944 to June 1942, we need a total of 2,800 research points. That is, 100 * 28. We need to determine 28 research times. And how much research do we have in total? Starting from March 1942, 800 research points per month! Eight times a month, which means that from June 1942 to October 1944, we have conducted a total of 224 researches! Although I have not tested the probability of this research in detail, I think that eight times the number of determinations is enough to advance the A6M5c to the end of 1942, or even the middle of the year. This is a good suggestion, you can try it. You can repair 15 * 30 per month, totaling 450 aircraft factories. Full-speed research can be carried out only until February 1942. The A6M2 can be transferred to the A6M5c without damage.

I browsed through your post, but I didn’t find specific data on the research. If you have any understanding of the probability of research success, then perhaps I can improve my approach. This is my third attempt as a Japanese player, and I am mainly responsible for logistics.

Are you playing with 'Realistic R&D' OFF? If not, read below.

Two faulty assumptions as far as researching A6M5c from start:
- you cannot repair one research factory point a day from game start. The chance to repair a point gets higher the larger the factory, but MUCH lower, the farther out the arrival date of the plane.
- no R&D points are generated until a factory is fully repaired. (the engineers will not work until you pave the parking lot & install doors on their bathrooms! )

Basically what JanSako said.

I've been recording repair times for over a year game time and posted this recently https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 3&t=405545.
It contains research trend line and from another a formula.

For the fastest research speeds it all boils down to:

Only fully repaired factories produce research points.
Research through the family chain.
Increase to optimum size 30 as soon as possible.
Have over 500 engines in the pool.

Obviously the more factories you have the fast everything will be.

Here's an example.

The factory situatiion day 1 (Scen #1). All had over 10K supply and the Ha-35 was built up as quickly as possible to ober 500 pool engines. The (dates) are due date at that time in the game.

Production
one 60 x A6M2 upgrades to A6M2 Sen Baku (Feb 44)

Research
one 0(30) x Rufe (Apr 42) upgrades to A6M5 (Jun 42) I needed the Rufe so this factory had to go into production. Built for two months then switched to A6M3 when it became available.
one 0(30) x A6M3 (Jun 42) upgrades to A6M3a (Dec 42) There was no advance for the A6M3, it took approx 4 moths to fully repair but the A6M3a arrived in (Oct 42).
one 0(30) x A6M5 (Aug 43) upgrades to A6M5b (Jun 44)

1 Jan 43
Production
one 60 x A6M3a (Oct 42) upgrades to A6M5 (Jun 43)
one 30 x A6M3a (Oct 42) upgrades to A6M5 (Jun 43) Ex Rufe.

Research
one 30 x A6M5 (Jun 43) upgrades to A6M5b (Jun 44) Ex A6M3. Already 50% on for another advance to (May 43)
one 28(2) x A6M5 (Jun 43) upgrades to A6M5b (Jun 44) still repairing

By 1 Jan 44 I expect the A6M5b will be well into production with the A6M5c close if not in production.

The fastest way to get the A6M5c is not to research it from the start but to work your way through the finaly starting with the A6M3.
