The Allies have LCUs bearing down on Jodphur and Multan. At Multan I made a late decision to move 9th Base Force to Lahore where I would be able to stage bombers. The 9th was in strat mode and left the run 1 day too late and was caught in the open by masses of Allied armour. The combat soldiers of the unit sacrificed themselves to allow the support units to retreat back to Multan. Many disablements but in time this unit will come good again…. That is as long as I hold onto Multan. I have around 1500AV (mainly in 3 Divisions) plus supporting artillery holed up here behind level 4 forts. I hope it is enough and I hope it is a surprise to Todd. We also have another division + artillery and a HQ unit on the way to relieve Multan. Finally, there is one other division held in reserve in strat mode to assist in either Multan or Jodphur. Supply at Multan could be my Achilles heel.

We are a couple of days moved on from my last post. Todd had moved 4 armoured units into the clear hex to the east of Multan and had given them orders to move into the base. This is the only direction to come at Multan without crossing a river. The red dot was there indicating that the British were indeed on the move towards Multan. Then last turn all 4 units pop up across the river and to the south of Multan (indicated by the blue circle).
I'm inclined to think that there is a reason why this happened but haven't yet consulted the rule book. Anyone like to throw in some sage advice on what is going on here with this move?
I'm off to work so won't respond for a good while.
Thanks.
Steve

I've come across the following in 15.3 Ground Unit Supply in the rule book.
To order a ground unit move to a specific hex, the path must generate a positive supply value to constitute a valid supply path. Ground units will move along a path that provides the best possible supply route from their current hex to their destination.
I am wondering then does this mean that the AI has determined that the best possible supply route for the armoured units is to move back out across the river and then move into the city via a river crossing from the southern side. It would appear to make sense that this hex south of Multan would provide a better route of supply than the hex to the east of the Multan. I'd have to see from Todd if his units were still ordered to move into Multan after making the move into that southern hex. If this is so then it would appear that supply issues has scuppered the Allied attempt to breach Multan from the only side not requiring a river crossing.
Any thoughts appreciated.

I don't have insights into the mechanics at all, but I'm still reading. Is there a reason you keep bombarding at Kukong? It doesn't seem to be doing anything, are you just trying to burn supply?

Thanks savelius2. Pleased to have you on board.
Todd and I have decided that the supply routine is this issue here (it works for me and I'd doing a lot of head scratching to come up with another reasonable cause). This issue has probably negated the Multan wing of the Allied Operation Comet as Todd is not keen on forcing a river crossing here. Jodphur will, I expect, be a different story and an Allied assault is fully expected.
As for Kukong. The incessant bombardment is mainly to let Todd know that I haven't lost sight of the Chinese units holed up here. They are too far behind my lines for my liking but I don't have the muscle to deal with them... yet. They could also decide to move out of the base and that I don't want. If they do I want them to be as big a rabble as I can make them. The aerial bombardment is also about doing this plus gaining pilot experience. The two units I have here have also been picking up some experience points through the bombardments.

What is the thinking on the value of the Ki-46 KAI Dinah fighter? If it wasn’t for the absolutely awful 37mm cannon I think it has attributes that are useful. But a fighter without teeth is a bit pointless.
So I’m not producing it when it is due to come on line in December ’42 but what becomes of the 3 air units (1 in December ’42 and the other 2 in ’45) slated to use this model. Do they get something else or just linger around waiting for planes which will never arrive?
