WTH??? I heard this on a TV program yesterday - and had no idea what it was - other than it was the unmistakable voice of Kate Bush. How could I have not bought this record at the time and how could I have completely forgotten it???

An absolutely ball-bouncingly beautiful song. Wow! A voice that can cut glass, and can bring a grown man to tears, a voice that is almost too beautiful to describe.

The piano accompanying that beautiful voice at the start is remarkable enough - and the lyrics catch the attention, but at 1:21 the track starts to move into gear as the piano is joined by another instrument (I don't know what it is), there is a mini-crescendo and then at 1:49 the track eases back once again - but this is just the prelude for a sort of choral addition at 2:18, before, at 2:44 this incredible vocal just hits perfection as she produces a kind of high pitched chant as a background to her main vocal.

To remember Lauda I’m listening to “Rush - OST” by Hans Zimmer. Incredibly pulse pounding.

This has to be one of greatest tracks from a film ever. The sombre strings at the start are suitably depressing, evoking some bitter memories of Grand Prix racing around that time. The music then takes off and becomes a very stirring piece, perfect for thinking of the cars of the time travelling at speed piloted by their brave and skilful pilots.

To my mind the real genius of this track is the constant throb in the background - Zimmer has produced a kind of metallic sound that puts one in mind of pistons going ten to the dozen. These cars were fast - they were out-growing many of the tracks, they were wonderfully noisy - a total assault on the eardrums, they were crude - no carbon fibre, much less Kevlar in those days, smelly - ah that delicious smell of a Grand Prix weekend, hotdogs and burgers meets petrol, oil and grease! and provided a driver with all the protection of a wet paper bag - that was liable to ignite if it so much as looked at a crash barrier....

To get in one you had to be some kind of special person.....

As we all know Mr Gilmour first gave Miss Bush a break way way back.

I have a huge collection of late sixties very early seventies music that you'll love it this sort of thing is your bag.

Message me. I have near 300 albums on my PC a fast majority from that period.

When it comes to Floyd I'm only into Dark side and before. Definitely not into The Wall onwards.

hi wodin,

i grew up listening to sixties/seventies pop music. it started off by watching the monkees on tv when I was in single digits. I used to buy 45's and later moved onto albums.. anyone remember 8 track cassettes? my brother used to buy those. then came regular cassette tapes and then cd's and now mp3's. over the years, I've bought the same music on all those different media types
