China west. Now moving on the zombies near Nanyang. Also now moving on Sian, where the first unit will emerge from the forest to the W tomorrow and attack - alone - the following day. The day after that two units will shock attack across the river on the road from the NW. I'm hoping that the two day attack process will make the shock attack both less painful for us and more effective against the defenders.

China frontier. A big and pretty effetive raid against our 640th TD Bn which pulled in front of the plains zombies.
90% disruption but the unit is 69%/100%. The CAP umbrella is being extended to cover them.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Philippines. Increased air ops against the defenders at Manila, and pretty good recovery by our troops there. The units withdrawing still need to do so and the rest need time too. (Yesterday's picture, sorry.)

Home Islands west. More night strikes on our fleet. Our night fighters many a number of intercepts and took down several, as did flak. Weather helped to hide our ships too, which all escaped without harm. The fleet is pulling back from Shikoku to replenish for the next two invasions (Saishu To and Kumamoto). Some of the surface combat TF ships are just beaten up and need repairs.
Recon of Kumamoto is showing 60,860 troops, 550 guns, and 489 AFV. We are going to have to hit that place hard from the sea and the air for the forces assigned to take it without shattering themselves. It is Clear terrain.

Osaka/Kyoto. More B-29B raids. Weather was bad and many strayed but some found the mark. The B-29B crews are showing fatigue and will stand down.

Ouch, ouch, ouch on that first assault at Manila. Amazing that the defenders AV nearly quadrupled even with a supply penalty! Good luck cracking that nut!

There is lots of very effective flak reaching 10,000 ft over Manila, compared to now none whatsoever over Shanghai. I figure that supply (-) at Manila was partial - just for one or more units - but nothing like the whole magilla. So with Urban Heavy (I think it is) and some good fortifications I guess we still have our work cut out for us. There are lots of medium bombers plus the Australian B-24 groups hitting them to chew up supply and chip away at the troops.ORIGINAL: jwolf

You do realize that MacArthur did it with "severe restrictions on Artillery and Air power attacks"
