Using B-29s on night bombing of airfields is a criminal misuse of that airframe, IMO.

Even in these situations, with the Allies just next door?

I know I would use them to lengthen and disperse my fighter strength. Places like Harbin, Nagasaki would be destroyed (I am talking plane and engine factories).

He is a question for you AFB fanboys....I am looking to dispatch some deep subs into this area. Waste of time?

Heard back from the Allies...it seems real life is slowing his turn down, and there most likely be not that great a turn around until next week.

I could use the extra time...go thru every squadron...double check prep...prepare.

I don't think so. There is one version of the B-29 that only has tail guns. No other protection, sending it in the day time would be criminal.

Well, between 16th April and 10th May of 1945 B-29 was used to bomb airfields at Kyushu and Shikoku to help reduce Japan activity over Okinawa. They did 2104 sorties flaying at altitude 3000-5500 meters during day. After War it has been discovered that during days when raid where executed, the 95% Japan fighters activity comes form bombed airfields. As you can see B-29 was quit bad tactical bomber.

That is a 45 plane...really designed for low level incendiaries.

I think by 45 the Allies will be able to fly in the daytime without much hindrance....at least in this game.[:D]

I haven't played a game this late in the calendar but unless Burma is still an active theatre, this route for supplies is kind of far from the action. Most supplies will be coming from WC USA and stocks built up at Pearl Harbour.

March 23, 1944

No night attacks.

The hunter killer squadrons attack both R boats close in to Etorofu...I hope they are there come morning!

The Franks do a great job...but the Helens all miss.

Now it is up to the Oscars down low....

The Oscars fly low, and are destroyed by Allied CAP. Shuck, but making progress.

The Schizo Allies throw wave after wave at Yokahama...carrier planes, big 4E beasties escorted now by Lightnings, and they wear out the CAP, but attack the runways! Runways!

Meanwhile, my little trap over at Etorofu nails some sub hunters. Hey, I realize that it isn't worth a lot of points, but it is hurting the Allies...and that is what I am supposed to do![:)]

Holy smokes! A second day in a row, where the Japanese sink Allied ships for no losses (only planes).

I heard sinking sounds for the torpedoed destroyer right after the attack, plus I got at least one and maybe two PFs. My little hunter killer trapped worked really well, didn't even lose an Rboat (one is damaged to 50 percent but should make port).

Another 15-20 fighters on the Deathstar downed, Yokohama at 62 percent runway damage.

Only bombardment attacks in Indochina, retreat proceeding as good as can be expected. Which is far better than I thought possible.

Depends on the scenario. If Babes or variant then it helps to keep shipping every bit of supply possible into India for use in the theaters beyond.

Allied fleets getting scattered.

I have a big surprise I hope for the top task force of 8 destroyers....

Oshio survives and the fires are extinguished...she got hit yesterday by divebombers (which really paid the price in lost planes).

Thanks guys, on the tips for Aden. Mucho appreciated.[&o][&o]

Tracker lets me quickly find units for packing/unpacking...a big turn time saver.

You can see the heavy artillery getting ready to load onto trains in Thailand. I believe I have made the decision to send all heavy artillery back to the Vinh line. It simply isn't mobile enough to fight on the Bangkok line.

I have yet to make up my mind how hard I try to hold the Bangkok line. Part of me says yes...but the other part fears all the open ground in my rear...I basically am a coward, so I am thinking the Vinh line while I can.

Have a few more days to figure it all out.

Chief Petty Officer Shirakawa destroys two more Allied fighters before being shot down...a bright hero of the Empire will fly no more.[:(] His paperwork transferring him to TRACOM for rest and recuperation remained unopened at his airbase.

(Made a new double ace today, though!)[:)]

Warrant Officer Agawa really likes flying the Frank, he is the leading Ace in the IJAAF.

If he flew in the Navy, he would be re-assigned to TRACOM, but he is in the Army flying the best Army fighter. He has no other purpose now but to fly and fight for his Emperor.

This is the Army's new policy...since Army night fighters have no radar, the best fighter pilots are being transferred into Frank squadrons for front line defense.

While there is something to defend.[:D] This new strategy might come as a surprise to the Allies...

Well I will say it again, you need put more work in you fighter management Sir. This is the last available, for you, way to repel this landing. As I said before, sweep, sweep and more sweep. Without fighters he will be force to withdraw bombers and transports form area. Without allied bombers on you neck you will be able to concentrate force and repel his carriers too.
I can guarantee you that 200-300 Hellens can be devastating when bombing AF:9 full of B-24 :D and does not matter how many AA units he will put there. But first, kill his fighters.

Here is example what can be achieve with aggressive air tactics.

Thanks Mr. Kane, I got side tracked trying to harm Deathstar and worried to much about protecting the industry...if I just sit back and wait for him to come to me you are right that it will be very bad.

George has been the best at sweeping for me. I tried Frank early on, but only at lower altitudes and they got chewed up.

I am trying them at higher altitudes to see what will happen.

Trying a very high altitude kamikaze run with fighters...and trying to pick off some of the stray fleets.

In addition I have a few other things planned for today...

Check experience of my units, I am not moving pilots to TRACOM (it is useless in my opinion, lower exp new pilots, easier to train them). I am moving them to elite units, and only those units are used for sweeps. Do not forget put some LRCAP either, it is game of numbers. You need numbers advantage to get good result.
