The French ships were decent designs but France just did not have an electronics industry that could provide radar and fire control computers on par with the pre-war British and US developments. When French ships did join the allies they got the older equipment from upgrades. No one could match US computer assisted fire control in 1945.

What a dream come true if you could engage the man KB in the DEI instead of near Japan. Where are the rest of your CVs? Wherever they are they should be hightailing it to here. Let your secondary fleet bloody up the Japanese and send your main fleet in to feast on the survivors.

YOu are soooo right. That ship also has no damage control relative to USA. Fires 23 to 42 despite 70 experience. go figure! It might as well be an empire. here is a picture. She will be a reef next turn. maybe it is 1942 and I don't know it?

NO joy, the KB was taking a drink of fuel and high tailed away. did catch a transport / tanker TF there and scratched it.

here is the plane tally....for all the air raids on the allied fleet. no other air combat today

Over the enxt several turns, I plan to raid eastern and western borneo with british and American carriers to try to knock down the effectiveness of his booty haul. Mind you I am not allowed to strategic bomb. It merely is an attempt to bag some shipping and potentially draw KB into battle.

It is curtains for that French CL. really odd that it sunk from fire with such low fires at the end of the combat. I did not see any ammo bunker explosions. oh well - will have to be a mystery.

After all that, tsorms blocked in all air missions around Miri. We will redo that this turn.

Empire launched unsuccessful air raids on my retiring CV forces from the Balikpapan raids, heading for oosthavan.

Batavia fell this past turn on Java, as did the last stronghold on Sumatra. American forces cant seem to march in a straight line from the eastern end of the island to engage 156.106. Its gotta be a conspiracy, as they have moved adjacent, then slid zoc hexes, then slid again, now they say they are moving into the hex. I hate it when the game does that!

In china, enemy forces have massed a huge army to counter a potential play for Canton. It may be too much due to the urban nature of the the battle. I will give it one pass, and will bomb it with everything I have. attack in a few days. If it fails I will move towards Manchuko and take a different port city other than Hong Kong

IN Russia, the empire put up a stiff denfense in battles at Changchun and tsistsihar. Changchun will not fall until I bring up more troops. the latter base will fall, but it will take time. I'll say this, the empire in Manchukuo is far from a stroll in the park.

No joke here, but will eventually take the base. Note those Manchukuo district division! even bigger on at Chanchun
