Is it possible that a Java update hunted down and got rid of the old version? Or anti-virus/security software of some kind said 'this isn't safe any more' and yanked it?

There was some message about Java earlier today but it vanished very quickly....

My guess is your Java 6 is gone. But if you have any later JRE, you should be good.
From a DOS command prompt, try "where java" to see if you have one in your path. If so, try "java -version" to see what version the JRE is.

OK thanks for the rapid reply.... just woken up here in UK.

Edit the batch file (witptracker.bat) to either point directly to this java.exe, or remove the full path and let the system find the latest JRE.

Ok found the java at
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Oracle\Java\javapath\java.exe

so edited the batch file so it looks like this and when it runs the command window flashes and disappears and that's it. I know I am doing something wrong, but hey, beyond my knowledge what it is.

Your bat file needs to look more like this

"C:\program files\common files\oracle\java\javapath\java.exe" -Xms256m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap
pause

I've reinstalled the tracker but it doesn't start.
I can't post image, this is what happens when I click the batch file

Initializing Wit Tracker AE database

premere un tasto per continuare....

It says it is initializing the database, which is what it does when you load the first turn. It should take a bit and then display the interface.
If it doesn't then we would need more information.

No, nothing to do, it doesn't start..

I've the folder on desktop, copied the file java.exe in the folder, installed java 32 bit, I really don't know...

Anyone have any idea why I am getting this? Could nboth players not running the same version of a mod cause this?

Maybe can't find the named file. Is it there?

Ok, my Mac died and I have had to replace it. All good and no-one should get all edgy because its a Mac - running Win7 under Parallels. Only problem seems to be the display on WitpTracker, which now looks like the screenshot attached. Its tiny - so is there some resolution issue I need to specify in the Bat file perhaps? The display on the monitor is 5120 by 2880.
