We have 2,200 AV ready for the next assault, which includes units still heavily disabled and likely to lose more destroyed than we wish, but we will press on soon anyway. First we are moving the corps and army HQ units from Manila to Batangas to see if that speeds further recovery (I'm sure their presence has helped units in Manila recover).

Home Islands west. Yesterday Imperial strength reconed as 32 units, 118,380 troops, 877 guns, and 1,108 AFV. Today Imperial strength recons as 23 units, 112,020 troops, 807 guns, and 675 AFV. That's quite a change in unit and AFV counts. Certainly mauled armoured units are withdrawing to recover rather than lose disabled vehicles, but there is also movement seen out of Kanoya, Kagoshima, and Nagasaki/Sasebo that indicates withdrawal to a defensive line. We have 1,819 AV at Kumamoto, a nice recovery. At the risk of slowing recovery I am ordering up a supply of recon shells for the artillery to use tomorrow. The infantry will not be ready to attack (not as ready as I feel the situation warrants) anyway, and I want to see what is there now. The fact that DAW HQ has ordered such maneuvers must mean that defenses at Kumamoto are believed ready to crack.
The usual night air strikes against our fleet were repulsed.

We have 1,880 AV at Kumamoto now, and an assault is ordered for tomorrow with standard (massive) naval and air support. Weather forcast is Partially Cloudy ("P"). The one-sided carnage wrought by the Allied artillery bombardment surprised me and confirms the weakened state of the defense. Anticipating capture, base forces and construction units are loading at Hangchow and Taihoku.

Air losses. Forgot to re-designate targets at Kumammoto when a number of Imperial units moved out yesterday and many strikes ran into CAP. All squadrons set for tomorrow.

"Soviets will activate on August 1st. I have it in my brain that they are setup kinda funky as far was what makes sense for troop deployment. I am pretty sure you can’t march them anywhere was well. If you want a month or 2 weeks or something prior to August 1st to adjust their deployment, I will be more than happy to activate them for you with the agreement that they will not be used offensively until Aug 1st. I am willing to let them sit until August 1st but is seems like they would be deployed by that date where you would want them. Let me know what you think. Maybe the AARers have some thoughts. "

IRL the Russians did not attack until Aug. 12th IIRC, so activating on Aug. 1 gives them time to reach jumping-off points by Aug. 12.
