This doesn't bode well...two bombardments and heavy bombing heavily disrupt the Japanese defenders at Hachinohe. I will send more troops there pronto. Might have to march them...perhaps some more coastal guns too.
Your shooters are just fine. I would expect disruption numbers like that on base forces and coastal defenses (and other artillery) from bombardments.

Turn is away....we will see what happens at Bangkok. It should be exciting!
I still have two undiscovered anti-shipping traps set up will see what that nets us.

Roger,
There is absolutely nothing nice about that unit....well, maybe that is at 20something AV. I guess you could consider that part nice, but I have no way of punishing it further unless he does something reckless. Not true, I am bombing it today.
Thanks so much for the information.[&o] The fifth column at work.[:D]

Ah but you see I am an Allied player, and its a mobile unit with a big punch, currently clocking up the miles in Central China. It can hold its own.....
My kind of unit.

April 12th, 1944
Scary moment for the Allies as 6 torpedoes speed their way...on and and on and on.
How come my predecessor let Force Z live? I know I have put 7-8 torpedoes into the POW in 2-3 different fights, but she still managed to sink one of my Kongo's right after the Kongo demolished a huge troop convoy north of Oz back in 42. Now the Renown, which I also think I put torpedoes in during 42 is back to bedevil me.

Helens sneak in, no Allied fighter coverage...
Tomorrow I might try sweeps to catch some LRCAP. That is if I hold.[:D]

Lousy low altitude bomber run....probably going after ships, but who really know since they all go down, down, down.

Uttaradit is attacked by a Division. They won't be able to take it for a while.[8D]

Fire, fear, foes, Awake! The Allies are knocking on the door, but how come they aren't exploiting?
I have 9/10 DL on Ayuthia but no visible movement arrows.[&:] Could they be there and I just don't see them? The 1st Tank is racing east along the road to secure the super highway from Ayuthia, how in the world did I not garrison that[&:], while troops are moving north from Battambang to dig in the jungle. A good tank stop with artillery, but short AA.
Half the troops are leaving Bangkok on rails should I be so lucky tomorrow....some that are in tough shape.
The fight on the jungle road, the gateway to the plains, pits IJA infantry versus an Allied Division, Rgt, and 4 tank units. We hold pretty well, 1-2, but a small Amphibious brigade is simply devastated. The rapid fire units lack the punch to destroy, but they can disable tanks. The Amphibious Brigade bore the burnt of the attack...stopping the tanks with their bodies I guess.
Uttaradit is secure for now and the shattered division there should make it back to Vientiane I think. The 14th Division is unpacking, and for once was not bombed at Udon Thani. They are rebuilding very nicely.
Everything is shaping up nicely behind the Bangkok line...we shall see how this develops.
Over in Honshu, I lost 42 Franks and Georges for 25 Jugs. No other bombing. A good day.[:)] My CAP trap comes up empty, I am the worst at picking these things (this one is in Malaya), and my Kamikaze strike force has nothing but empty ocean and does not sortie.
Tomorrow is another day. This day was great. A gift to the Empire and they don't come along too often.

I am assuming that when Bangkok falls the troops would currently retreat to the SE as that is the better supply path? As things currently stand.
Troops should arrive shortly to garrison Siem Repp. IJA 43 squads are unloading at Tourane (1/3rd of a Division).
I need more AA here...several units will rail out of Bangkok and secure the superhighway south of Ayuthia. Uttaradit has none, which is an oversight on my part as I didn't think I would still be fighting there.[X(]

Towards a friendly base, but into terrain that cost the least to move into...I think. [;)]

The combat report will say something like "Attack on TF" in one case versus "Attack on [base name]" in the other case.

Turn done, and away...
My xak near Formosa made port, but the fires consumed her.
The great struggle in in Thailand continues...I rerouted a large convoy of air bases, engineers from the original port of Manila to Camh Ran Bay. They will go to helping garrisoning Vietnam.
I am pulling back my naval guard from the lower SRA perimeter. 4-5 Units. I am leaving a well stocked air base with Air HQa and support to potentially get in a few licks should he try to move on them on the cheap -- really I have a chain of such airbases heading back to Luzon.
Trying to nail some of the Allied convoys in different places. One with Kamikazes, and the other with Betties.

My understanding, is that retreat path might follow the lowest supply path adjacent hex, which means it might follow a railroad track for example. No time to research it more right now....getting youngest son's head shaved, and by the end of the day he will be marching in a parade in step on the drill field. Well, that is tomorrow. Today we drive 7 hours and have some functions to go to.
Other son starts Ranger school; he might have women in his class. Who would have ever, ever thought that 25 years ago barring some apocalyptic great war. Well, maybe Gloria Vanderbilt? Bella Abzug?
Cheers. Empty nesters coming up, well kind of sort of empty nesters.[8D]

It seems like units always retreat to the least advantageous hex

!
Just catching up. Congrats on the sons growing up-- mine just starting Kindergarten on wednesday (yikes!).
If the Allies are at 1.3 to 1 in VP's, there's still a great chance. As i retreat from Thailand I dream of some kind of counterattack maneuver, like Manstein against Kharkov in 1942. But given the land war model in this game, its hard to do anything but maneuver ponderously forward or backward in a well telegraphed fashion... Unless somebody has some ideas on how to counterattack an overextended British army on its past Bangkok?

We make a night time torpedo attack against two battleships at Hokkaido, and miss.
Allies bomb, bomb, bomb everywhere it seems. We manage to trade 11 2nd line fighters and 1 George for 7 Jugs over Singers.
I lose an xak of Luzon to a sub, that the escorts then force to the surface and sink. A destroyer damages another Yank sub badly off Formosa.
A good day for the retreat in Bangkok. Another good battle at Uttaradit, where we inflict 3 times the losses we suffer.
I see how to fight from Battambang on down, but the blocking positions on the western plains are just suicide for the Japan to defend as there is no retreat since the Allies have total control of the skies.
So, is holding here for a while worth shattering 3-4 divisions and assorted troops.?

I have so lost the air war in Burma/Thailand that there is very little chance of doing neat things like this. The counter attack at Uttaradit is about the best I can hope for.
