I´ve first moved out my art units from Myitkina to bring them to Karachi to aid to the assault on this Allied stronghold. After seeing the Allied av being adjusted from 600 to 12.000 [>:][8|] there I changed my plans of not attacking anymore and ordered the art units back to Myitkina... The Allied bases North of Myitkina are all Japanese now and I doubt that Yunan will be able to supply all those troops over 180 miles of trails. I guess Yunan itself doesn´t even have enough supplies to fully supply the 10 units there but who knows...

We will have a look on the Allied av in the next turns and then we will notice it soon when the Allied will start starving... even if there are still over 1000 Allied assault points at this base, there is no real threat. Too low supply and I´ve got enough troops in Burma to keep the Allied honest.

two USMC divisions, a TK btn and 7 art units have moved out of Lautern and are on the trail towards Dili now. Seriously looks like that Miller plans to take Timor without any more amphibious assaults. Miller told me that as long as I have every carrier, every warship and every Betty near Timor it would be suicide for him to send in ships. And he hopes that his LBA can prevent me from doing a counterlanding. Well, I hope Miller will be surprised by my forces when he decides to attack somewhere else as I don´t have EVERYTHING near Timor anymore. There were days when I had 98% of everything near Timor though! [;)]

with the bases in Northern Australia nearly stripped of ships and Perth being stacked with ships I guess the next upcoming invasion will come directly out of Perth again. I think that also the original invasion of Lautern came directly from Perth.

those attacks are coming from Derby, the bombers attack with reduced bomb load due to flying on extended range. North West coast of Australia, big Allied convoy going towards the Northern Australian bases. Rear salvo of two torps missed the big AK. I guess this is a supply convoy for Northern Australia. Supply is a major issue there, at least this is my experience when playing as the Allied. You have to bring in hundreds of thousands supplies, not just a couple of ten thousand. I´ve thought about positioning a carrier TF in this area to catch a convoy but on the other hand I don´t know if it´s worth it. Worst case could be two US CVs meeting a couple of IJN CVEs...

the super low attack of the Allied fighters results in TWO fighter lost. Malir is defended by two special base forces and two AA rgts... [8|] I´ve thought this would keep Miller from attacking but how should it. Attacking a "strongly" defended base doesn´t result in more losses for him than I lose attacking a totally undefended target at the same range.

the reason for my air attack on Lanchow was to disrupt the single unit there. As there are fighters also, I was sure that this single unit is only a base force and I was right. We had a Mongolian cav div moving into Lanchow over the roads coming from the East. We shock attack over the river and the low assault value base force doesn´t do any damage to our attacking unit. I don´t understand why Miller didn´t move an inf unit into Lanchow. When Lanchow falls (oil / resources / HI) then I can move on Sining (last Chinese base in the far North) and Kungchang will be totally cut off then, the troops there not having a chance to retreat. Means in a couple of weeks the 50.000 defenders of Kungchang will have to surrender!

we have some more flak on the way to Malir to cause more damage to the attackers. I don´t want to overstac the base with flak and I don´t want to do too much harm to the attacker as this then surely makes him stopping those training runs. Would be cool if he loses 5-6 ac per attack though...

Miller increased the attack alt and his 250 bombers don´t achieve much anymore. Such an attack every second or third day is far too few to keep Koepang´s airfield damaged. When we will have enough Tojos available I´m thinking about moving them in again. The plan is to use 6 air search radar equipped Yugumo class DDs being moved in the same day as the fighters to hopefully see the Cap scrambling.

Koepang´s airfield was 100% operational again so Miller sent in his bomber armada lower than before and today he has to pay for it as suddenly our flak defense showed teeth! 22 of the attacking bombers were lost to flak today! Guess this was one of the best results so far... The airbase was hit hard though and Koepang is inoperational again. Also the supply hits are getting more and more concerning. The last couple of weeks cost us over 20.000 supplies.

There are 200 enemy fighters at Lautern now, flying Cap and the fighter bomber are attacking our barges. Without much effect though, those MG hits do NO sys damage at all on my barges. That´s more than strange as enemy PTs normally shoot IJN DDs to pieces with their cal. 50...

So many Kittyhawks and Spitfires on Cap over Lautern could mean another incoming convoy, probably bringin supplies. We will see if we are nearing another major airbattle over Lautern.

The barges are moving in supplies and moving out the shredded units that were forced to retreat from Lautern. We were able to save all units from Lautern and they will be shipped back to Singapore or Japan to be rebuilt.

our assault with the Mongolian cav division was a success. Unfortunately the capture of the HI/rescources/oil wasn´t much of a success as all those facilities are 60-70% damaged. Due to the situation near the SRA with the Allied being on the jump into vital areas I have decided to repair all damaged oil rigs at Lanchow. This will cost us some 70.000 supplies. [X(] But Lanchow will then produce around 7% of the total oil need of the Empire so I guess it will be worth it. With the conquest of India we will produce enough supplies in the next month that this won´t really hurt us. Moving the supplies to Lanchow will probably be the biggest problem.

A bgd is needed to meet the garrisson requirements at Lanchow so we have ordered a shot up bgd to move there from Kungchang, should arrive within the next two turn. At the moment we are 60 av below the requirements so I can only hope that the oilsites won´t be damaged even more. Also a pretty much shredded div will move out of Kungchang to move on Sinin with the Mongolian cav division to take out this base, probably only defended by another Allied base force. This will reduce our av at Kungchang by around 400 points.

[;)] Also IJN subs can be a real pain in the a$$ for Allied shipping when there aren´t enough escorts around. My submarine force is doing a great job in this campaign both against Allied warships and the merchants. Especially this big AP lost will hurt Miller. Dozens of APs were lost due to the Lautern invasion and those APs will be missed for moving troops from the West coast to the front. APs are "rare" during the first 18 months of the war so this is definetely something Miller will feel.

I´ve tried to sneak in two dozen medium APs to Diamond Harbour to pick up a division but unfortunately my ships were spotted yesterday and I was sure this would happen this turn. We´re lucky that there aren´t more Allied bombers attacking as I expected at least 150 Hurricanes to attack my convoy. It was a gamble, I didn´t want to place 250 fighters at Diamond Harbour as they are need at the front and while I was able to sneak two big convoys in and out already, the third try was a failure. I´ve moved 54 Zeroes to the base and tomorrow 72 Oscars will follow. The ships are disbanded in port, none is in danger of sinking. Looks like I have to take out Calcutta first before I can safely move ships to DH. All bomb hits achieved by the Chinese long range bombers. With decent exp those bombers are ship killers, dropping 10x250 kg AP bombs.

I wanted to scare Miller to make him move out his bombers and even though I moved out two of my divs I´ve ordered an attack. It wasn´t a succes but even though we get a 0:1 we cause some nice damage to the defender. Will take some 10-14 days until I have decent numbers of tanks at this base. I expect Calcutta to surrender within the next three weeks. Then the next Allied base is Delhi and I´m even thinking about attacking it with my tanks as I don´t have a real task for them after Calcutta has fallen. But I guess starving will be the better option as there are also 600 assault points, they could also get adjusted to 12.000... [:(]

Myitkina´s assault value is dropping real fast now, 25 points in one day. Two Allied units are spotted two hexes South East of the base. I don´t know if Miller is moving more troops into Myitkina, would be suicide IMO. Not a perfect solution but a better idea would be to withdraw the Allied troops from Myitkina to China. Even though if China surely hasn´t ample supplies, the Allied troops wouldn´t starve there at least.

Remember my attacks on Wyndham and Darwin with 300+ bombers twice? I´ve used very high exp bombers and what did I hit attacking a target without any Cap that attacked my bombers? And now look at the hit rate of those at best medium exp bombers... 21 hits... Did I even achieve 21 hits with 300+ high exp bombers at Wyndham when all those bombers weren´t able to sink even one of the British carriers there?

I knew Miller would move in more bombers and I knew my two Zero daitais wouldn´t achieve much but again they achieve nothing against the bombers, not even against the Chinese and obsolete British ones. Like everytime, Miller would have been better off attacking without escort. [:o] Moved in 84 Oscars and 36 more can fly in tomorrow. Miller moved ac to Myitkina today so I´m sure those will show up over DH tomorrow also. I guess we will have a dozen APs heavily damaged in the end and Miller will have lost 50-100 ac if he continues to attack. I doubt that we will see more attacks than the one tomorrow as he will then run into 100+ fighters on Cap. I´m pretty sure that we won´t lose a single AP as DH is a level 9 port so other than damaging those ships, the Allied won´t achieve anything I guess. I don´t have to do anymore big style invasions which means I have plenty of APs to ferry troops around and those APs will be repaired within 6 months.

But still, it was dumb to move in those ships when I knew Miller could fly in hundreds of ac to Calcutta within a turn. This same ignorant way was the reason I´ve lost BB Hyuga near Karachi... I should be more carefully again...

we have spotted this TF moving along Australia´s North coast a couple of days ago and we therefor moved in our IJN long range bombers but they refused to fly until today when the TF already was 2 hexes off Darwin. To make it even worse, major parts of the attack failed to locate the convoy so we have to be totally hapy with the damage done for one Nell lost. I guess two of the ships could sink and hopefully 20-30% of the supply is lost. At least I think this is a supply TF going to Darwin. The TF is reported as 10-12 ships, mostly small AKs.

After 8 months of bombing and starving the PM defenders I have now decided that it´s time to take this base. PM now become more important as Miller´s offensive out of Northern Australia needs troops, supply and fuel and as long as I own the South East tip of New Guinea the shipping lanes on the East coast going to Darwin are closed and it takes 3 weeks longer to route all the ships around Australia so South East NG has become quite important. using my BBs for bombardments is out of question for the moment, it´s just not worth it risking a mine hit or a PT torp that slows the ship down to see it taking 5 torps from Albacores during the day. It´s risky enough to use CAs.

we capture Calcutta and the British troops there surrender, only around 12.000 were left. We scored 329 points for Allied ground losses today, now at 14218! [:D] Very important also: the 600 resources and the 181 HI were undamaged! [:)] I expect to hold India into mid to late 43 at least and this means I should produce A LOT resources there that can be shipped to Japan and being stockpiled there to help us when the resources from the SRA getting less...

CA Exeter was spotted North of Wyndham today, moving West. The heavy cruiser is heavily damaged from my attack on Darwin and the naval engagement off Lautern before. We have moved in 100+ IJN bombers to attack the TF (another AP/AK TF was spotted also in the same hex) and hope for the best. 5 subs in the area are also alerted. We have also moved nearly 300!!! fighters to Koepang and four radar equipped Yugumo class destroyers. I hope that the four radar equipped destroyers will help to get a decent Cap number and that my airfield symbol will attract hundreds of Allied bombers as usual. Miller has 200+ figters at Lautern, perhaps he tries a sweep before his bombers would go in. In this case I also hope to get a good number of fighters in the air and get a loooong bounce phase due to the radar (just like the Allied get it ALL the time). When we get more than 225 fighters into the air and Miller attacks with all he has then I expect to take down 150+ enemy aircraft tomorrow. Of course it could also be the other way around with the usual 120-150 fighters on Cap and in the end 150 destroyed on the ground. This is the first "mass deploy" of the new IJA fighter, the Tojo. There are also some Zeroes but not a single Oscar as they can´t take down enemy bombers anyway... should be an interesting day tomorrow...

radar equiped TFs in a base do increase the CAP effectivity of the base fighter defence? now that would be a good news. and good luck for your "fighter trap".

beside that, when do japanese base forces recive air radar equipment? i know that the IJn was behind the allied and the germans in radar technology, but they got their first big static radar devices before they yould be installed on warships.
