This is so typical.

A Swede thinking he knows his own country's history better than someone else.

Wish I had a dime for every time I've seen this.

Yeah, I get this c**p every damn day at work - or at least I would do if I worked with any Swedes.....

And do you know what my research has also dug up? I did a double take and fell off my chair when I unearthed this gem; one of the long distant relatives of Stig Andersson (who, for the avoidance of doubt, didn't write Fernando, but did play a part in the creation of ABBA) actually fought at the Battle of Rio Ferdinand - for the Russians!! Yes, UNBELIEVABLE isn't it? Captain Sergei Lergei of the 5th (Peasant) Battalion, the St Petersburg Peasants, actually fought against the Goteborg Riflemen. He too survived the battle and later settled in Northern Sweden with a moose named Gertrude. The union (unsurprisngly - and thankfully - produced no offspring) but after Gertrude departed for the great moose house in the sky, Lergei moved south and shacked up with some dubious sort from the wrong side of South Central Stockholm. The rest (allegedly) is history!!

Does anyone know anything about one of the lesser known battles of the G7YPBW - The Battle of Lago Poopó (1805)?

I am trying to code this lake on the computer map, but everytime I try, HAL just laughs and spits out the code. He thinks I am making the name up, but of course that is not the case, and indeed was the sight of a famous, albeit little known, battle. Any help would be appreciated.

In other words - Steiner, nate or Orm. One of you get your finger out and come up with an intensively researched account of the battle....

Here is the general battle area

Interesting little known detail is that local boat rowers had to be hired to get the attacking forces across the lake which smelled alot like poo which caused nausea for many of the troops. Rare picture below of one on the local boat rowers.

Steiner already owns our hearts so it is time for him to rule our hearts as well. Steiner would be the best President ever.

Edit: I suggest we make Steiner King instead. Then he would be our Monarch for life.

Gentleman, gentleman. Control yourselves. I will gladly accept appointment as President for Life or KING. You are wise men whom I have come to rely on. Thank you, and GOD bless Steinerstein.

Good work Yogi (nice to know there is someone I can count on). I think there are a couple of items of note:

a) Re the local boat rower - I would [8D]
b) The map is perfect in its scope. The battle started on the outskirts of the town north of Villamar and spread to the banks of the Poopo. That is why in some war books it is known as the Battle of Alota Poopo.
c) I will do some research and see if I can drum up some old nonsense about what allegedly happened in 1805 - well m'colleagues arn't exactly falling over themselves to assist are they [:-]

No - the scale is set - we are too late in the day for such changes.

Anyways, how about youse guys giving me some help around here? I thought you might have volunteered to do the names and details of everyone living in the US between 1800-1825? Nate did the Germans, Austrians, Russians, Spanish and French. Just because you have lent me the use of HAL, that does not mean you can put your feet up and expect to share in the spoils. Based on advance orders so far I can tell you, this game is going to be so big, it hurts.

Check your work email, I have sent you the names of EVERY living person in the United States between 1800-1825. Hope that is helpful. I have also included each person's Nike Zoom Hyperenforcer Basketball trainers size, this should help us when playing Quartermaster.

Okay sorry - I just checked with HAL - he was witholding the info in order to make you look bad. Please accept my apologies. However, you wasted your time on shoe size.

The US army of the period wore Nike Zoom Hyperenforcer Basketball trainers. I need the trainer size (normally one-size different) NOT the shoe size please.

Okay, HAL is really staring to freak me out now. He changed your post to read shoe size......[:(]

Should I be scared here? It's getting so I can't sleep nights - not that I sleep anyway with all this research and coding, and Disney polls and stuff.

Hal does not tolerate much. You must be doing something he does not approve of. I never had any issues with Hal.

Well I'll start conversing in German and see if that settles him. He's normally okay once I've sung him a lullaby at the end of the working day - he just gets so cranky for no apparent reason and flies off the handle....I wonder if HAL is a female computer?
