It's hot here too. How the heck to people live here? I promise, once December comes, not to complain about cold and/or rain. Those just = free air conditioning.

Lord, this thread recalls to my mind the infamous Penguin costume or whatever that GJ posted. Sadly one cannot put out the mind's eye. [:D]

While we are in this state of limbo awaiting the return of the Empire's supreme commander, I will say, I just finished Ian Toll's new book, Pacific Crucible. It covrs the first 6 months of the WitP. Some really good writing here. Of particular interest to folks like us that are very familar with the combat associated with this period is the command relationship between Nimitz and King and the sad story of how the treacheous Redman bothers destoryed the real hero of Midway, Rochfort, and the great intel work by him and his crew in Hawaii.
Highly recommended.

Hey CR, how's the weather up there in Georgia? It's hot as hell down here in Florida.
Surprisingly enough, here in "Lost Angeles" the weather is remarkably comfortable. Our 4th of July outdoor barbecue felt like being indoors with a very high blue ceiling.

Anybody who desecrates the sanctity of this work of art (my AAR, naturally) by posting anything to do with that penguin shall be forever shamed and banished from polite society.

I'm reading both AARs so no comments except thanks to both of you for writing about your game.
Canoerebel - I didn't realize that restricted US units could move to Cape Town without paying PPs; thanks for the tip (you introduced me to the Cape Town transit in a previous AAR). Entertaining -and- informative.

PH seems to have disappeared, at least temporarily. He sent word more than a week ago that he'd be back and flip a turn yesterday, but I haven't seen or heard from him. It's too early to bug him, so I'm just chilling out and waiting to see what happens.
Like most, but not all, players, PH doesn't excel at communication about when the next turn will be coming. I'd guesstimate that perhaps 33% to 50% of players involved in a single PBEM match are good at communication with their opponent. Once a player takes on more than one PBEM at a time, the percentage immediately drops to the single digits.*
*Chez da Jes is one of the rarities - he juggled matches vs. Bradford Kay and me, but was always very courteous in telling us exactly when the next turn would come or wouldn't.

That is not good. I'm sure you've initiated some of these conversations yourself. You strike me as the 1% who would nearly always give forewarning that a turn was or was not coming. Too bad others don't follow suit.
