Units retreated 8 – NW into the mountains which will slow them down. Next stop for the tanks is to clear the one Chinese Corps that remains at Kunming. It won’t be able to retreat so I have no choice but to destroy it. Once Kunming is relieved I can move NW along the road to claim that hex before the 15 or so Chinese units move out of the mountains.

Morning Air attack on Darwin , at 76,124 – movement spotted SW out of Darwin, possibly along the railway to reinforce Katherine. I have 4th Infantry Div at Dili that is 97% prepared for Darwin. Once KB gets down here I will put in an amphibious assault on Darwin, but due to the coastal defences I will also need a BB Div to join the party. At least 2-3 weeks before I can launch this operation, but it’s not as high priority as getting KB back to SOPAC so this might have to wait a while.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the allied CVs have moved around southern Australia and pop up SW of Timor shortly. I have decent Nell and Betty search arcs into the Indian Ocean from Java and Timor looking for a move like that.

Sawoe-eilanden is occupied by the Japanese
Task Force 228 lays minefield near Fukue-jima ( 100 , 59) and sets course for Nagasaki/Sasebo – I’ve laid a minefield in open water where an allied sub has been sitting for months. I know the mines disperse quickly so it’s just to try something new.
Task Force 20 lays defensive minefield at Lingga ( 50 , 87) and sets course for Singapore – I had time to review where various auxiliaries were and part of that included reviewing ACM placements and how many mines have been laid at each of those bases. I saw that Lingga had no mines but I don’t have many in the pools. Some CMs at Singapore had a partial load so they dropped this lot overnight. This minefield means that allied subs have to move through at least one hex with mines in it if they want to sail past Singapore via the Malacca Strait.
Repairs completed on AD Noshima at Hiroshima/Kure, ship returned to service – these two ships start the war as AGs but I figure they are more use as ADs

On it rusty, I’ve already expanded Tokyo repair yard to size 50.
Still undecided if I’ll only change the two CS whose air units change to F and TB, leaving the other two as CS with Jakes, or if I change them all to CVL. An extra 54 Zeros on CAP wouldn’t go astray.

DD Ushio – is an escort in CA Div 2. It doesn’t say it here but 8 Oscars took battle damage so will be out of the fight tomorrow.
The enemy CVLs are still spotted 14 hexes away but the Nells and Zeros didn’t fly. The 2x enemy CAs are now showing as 2xCLs and are in the same hex as the CVLs.
RADM Sakamaki replaced the CO of the Nell unit with a non-flying CDR today, as the previous CO had a naval skill in the 20s. The new CO is one of the best in the pool with skills of 64 naval, 63 air, 60 aggression, 61 leadership. If he can’t get the unit to strike then no one can. The old CO is brought back in as a pilot so he can now concentrate on flying.

NCAA reserves are moving to join 12th Army in the battle of the mountain hex.

Plenty of enemy movement spotted in south/central China, while 20th Army is still moving to the river crossing point west of Chungking. 13th Army is resting with 15th and 17th Divs at Kweiyang.

11th Army will work to block E and SE approaches to Chungking.
I think Changsha is out of supply now as no flak was seen last turn, but with 2400 enemy AV there I think I need to leave two Divs as POW guards for now.

23rd Army should clear Kunming within days and capture Tsuyung in about a week.

Just an FYI, in case you're unaware.

If you are planing to convert your CS's (Cruisers, scout) to CVL's, the first two have to be done in Tokyo. In addition the Shipyard there must be built up to 50.

On it rusty, I’ve already expanded Tokyo repair yard to size 50.
Still undecided if I’ll only change the two CS whose air units change to F and TB, leaving the other two as CS with Jakes, or if I change them all to CVL. An extra 54 Zeros on CAP wouldn’t go astray.

Each, AFAIK, has a capacity of thirty A/C. For me that 22 Zeros, and 9 TB. Yes I know thats 31, I over stack a bit.[:D]

And yes, I know I have to dig up air groups for the latter two. BTW one of these doesn't have a torp capacity, until a later refit.

As a JFB, I like anything I get with a flat deck.[;)] Well, if I can get it early enough to matter.
