End of turn situation, west of Tula. Will the three encircled German Infantry Divisions be able to escape the pocket again next turn?

Beginning of turn in the Kharkov sector. The Axis forces defending Kharkov successfully retreated, avoiding an encirclement by the Soviet Army which was attacking from the North and South of Kharkov in a pincer movement.

End of turn west of Kharkov, the Soviet advance continues.

Turn 128, blizzard in all 3 Soviet Weather Zones.

Once again the SS Panzer Divisions were able to open the pocket allowing the 3 trapped German Infantry Divisions to escape encirclement.

The Soviet Army counterattacks surrounding the 3 German Infantry Divisions again, with the nearest German Army units 20 miles away things look bleak for the surrounded German troops. End of turn west of Tula.

The war of attrition continues on the Eastern Front.

On the Eastern Front the German Army now numbers 2.8 million troops and the Soviet Army numbers 7.5 million troops.

Start of turn, this time the SS Panzer Divisions were unable to save the surrounded German Infantry Divisions.

The 3 German Infantry Divisions surrendered.

Near Moscow the Soviet Army is encountering stiff German resistance, it will be a long and hard struggle to recapture Moscow.

Start of turn. The German Army successfully counterattacks forcing the advancing Soviet units to retreat back across the Oka river, south of Moscow.

But the German Army cannot stop the relentless Soviet advance south and east of Moscow.

The cities of Sumy and Poltava are abandoned by the retreating Axis Army.

End of turn, the cities of Sumy and Poltava are both recaptured by the advancing Red Army.

The city of Dnepropetrovsk is recaptured by the Soviet Army in a successful attack.

A German Infantry Division and a Rumanian Division were isolated southeast of the City of Dnepropetrovsk.

Turn 131, blizzard in all 3 Soviet Weather Zones.

Start of the turn, southeast of the City of Dnepropetrovsk the two Axis Divisions try to escape encirclement.

The Rumanian Division routed but the German Infantry Division was forced to retreat and is now surrounded by Soviet units.

The Soviet offensive to recapture Moscow continues, advancing about 10 miles a turn.

The next objective for the Soviet offensive in the Southern Soviet Union is the city of Kiev, still over a hundred miles away.
