So how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?
They actually still run this commercial. Talk about bang for your marketing buck!

The TV series Wonder Years, about growing up in the '60s, is like a slice right out of my life.
I'm a year older than the moose, having graduated HS in '75.
Aaawww thanks alot to you too.
I really appreciate these recomendations.

As a participant and a survivor of all the excesses of the time, I must respectfully disagree. I would offer examples of what I base my opinions on, but I am not sure what the applicable statute of limitations are. [:'(]

I recently tried to describe the draft to a millennial. I don't recommend it if you have no patience.
Most millennial's don't even know we have troops at risk overseas! It is very disheartening to my sons, who are at risk!!

If you don't mind spoilers, ten minutes of cuts. The whole movie is NOT about drugs.
Just a lot of it. [8D]

I remember defence recruiters coming around to my high school and the only job they could offer the girls was typist.....
Some fundamental things have changed since the 70's.

I'm of that era and I work with a Czech ESL teacher. I continually slip and say "Czechoslovakia". She just smiles at me . . .

I still say Czechoslovakia from time to time too. My stepmother has a brother who lives in Prague (how you get from Birmingham, AL, to Prague, Czech Republic, must be a long story, but I don't know it).

John has been out of town a few days for a family funeral. I think he'll return tonight, so the game will resume.
I think, at the time of his departure, he was rather uncertain what was going on in the Marshalls and why. He'd just expended alot of fuel to surround and scare the Allies into making a mistake. The fact that all of this didn't result in an invasion (well, not yet, by my reckoning) nor a major clash probably left him thinking, "What's going on? Why?"
But I think he'll return energized after giving the game thought for several days. He's probably come up with a new way to attack or to take advantage.
So let's see what happens.

When was the last time you saw something touted as solid state electronics?

It takes place on the last day of school in 1976
Lol...
Speaking of the last day of school in 1976...
I was a freshman in high school (born Mother's Day 1961) and that morning before class I stepped across the street to have a smoke before going in for final exams. (Yea... I started smoking young, but I was hardly alone. Only thing I ever did that I truly regret)
There was another kid out for a smoke, but he didn't have a light. He asked his friends for one, but they teasingly refused to give him one.
So, he wanders over and asks me. I whip out my Zippo and give him one.
Only, it turns out that he wasn't trying to light a cigarette, to my surprise was trying to light a big, fat spliff.
He passes it over to me and, being young and game, I take a hit.
That's when I discovered what the term "Opium dipped Thai stick" meant.
And, one hit was all it took... Except I took about five.
I float into class, the teacher passes out the test, I take a look at it and...
The next thing I knew I was pulling my head up from puddle of drool on my desk. I look at the clock, and there's only about fifteen minutes left from the hour and a half for the class.
I probably burned my chances of Harvard on that day.
