It is now 12/24. Yesterday was a bad day for the allies. There is an enemy carrier TF northeast of Kendari. It hit a couple of PGs and several merchant ships. Our major combatants are out of harms way but can't interrupt enemy movements in the area now. We need to come up with a plan to slow T down.

Dutch sub KXII hit IJN AK Matue Maru, at 25,47. There were Japanese ground units aboard.

An IJN cruiser TF bombarded Ambonia with one of the cruisers being hit by CD guns that did little to no damage. 1 fighter was lost on the airfield. With carriers to the north my surface ships do not dare intervene.


SS I-75 crippled AP Republic. She will sink

Tuguegarao was heavily hit by enemy troops. Forts are down to 0.

Naga was heavily bombarded by artillery

Malacca fell to an amphibious assault. My air units in Singapore are so low on morale they do not need to fly.

I think the Allies can usaully hit the Japanese on flank near Ambonia and Kendari due to the absence of LBA. Thus, him moving in CV's to cover any advances is wise. [:D]
In this mod, when do the Beauforts become available??  I usually like to convert my 8 planes squadrons of Hudsons to them for anti-shipping. Hopefully, you get them as they will help you slow down his advance.

My British pilots still can't hit anything. My search aircraft have spotted the KB moving in from the east. They are south of Davao.

Some thoughts. I am doing too much Sir Robin. I have to try and determine where to take some acceptable risks on defense. I need to try and assess possibilites. Also, Sir Robin gets boring after a while.[:D]

I am moving a 1 carrier TF to Noumea via a southerly route. I want to try and spring a surprise in the Solomons if he comes in with inadequate cover.

Situation on 12/27.

As can be seen the KB is moving into the DEI. I have been evacing 3 selected US baseforces from the Phillipines via sub. These units are going to Darwin. To not be too gamey I am moving as much of each unit as possible. It is aslow process with subs. One unit has been moved with Dutch air transports. I am concerned about putting up too little of a fight. Where do you guys pick your battles?

Another part of the map. There are plenty of targets for those bombers in Singapore. They just can't hit anything.

Here is the Solomans and New Guinea. Those cruisers already turned away 1 unsupported attempt to take Tulagi.[:D]

Last turn was pretty uneventful. However, those carriers south of Davao have disappeared. This is worrisome[:)]

Clark is holding well.

Yenen fell with my troops retreating west. I still do not have a coherent strategy for China. I have decide to evac some units from Georgetown. The enemy is closing in from the east. I want to delay as long as possible but some of these units could be helpful in India.

Akyab grows stronger by the day. Rangoon has been evacuated with 1 engineering unit left. My withdrawl from southern Burma has gone fairly well. I want to try and hold Mandalay.

Here is a comprehensive few of the Phillipines. THe only air units left are search aircraft. I really like seeing what is coming at me. 1 B-17 group is in Singapoew and is now E models (Iforgot to turn off upgrade). The other is in Darwin. The P-26 was sent to Sydney with 4 aircraft. The P-35 are in Macassar and will evac to Austrailia to rebuild.

The only house rule T wanted was no orders for me on turn 1. He told me I could do anything else I wanted to. I have spent PP to move some baseforces oit of the Phillipines where they would have been no impediment to the enemy advance. I am trying to concentrate the scattered Dutch units where they might be of use.

The A-24s and P-40s from the Phillipines are resting in the DEI. When their morale rebuilds, I will try to use them in an anti-shipping role. There are 40 P-40s covering Kendari. I have a BB CA task force there hoping an opening comes to disrupt a n invasion TF.

A bit of good news today. Swordfish out of Singapore put a torpedo in the Ise. She was bombarding northern Java. See attached map. Of course this will probably bring about renewed interest on the part of Terminus to bomb the living daylights out of Singapore.[:)]

I have almost completed the evac of the 110 naval base force. The 188th and 119th have been started. I had thought about that regimental combat team. They could be valuable. Thank you for your thoughts wyrmm.

Enemy carriers have been located southeast of Balikipan moving southwest.

He has a BB CA bombardment group at Tjilijap. I have just moved 24 Banshees to Bandeng. If the bombbardment TF withdrawls north they should attack. If the bombardment group withdrwals south I will transfer the planes south to Sorejaba and try again in 2 days (unlees they link with the carriers.

It depends on what is considered gamey in your game with T. It would be very nice to have the fleet HQ since the allies don't get another for a long time, but I would consider it gamey.

USAFE's fate should be that of other PI units.

T has a lot of ships roaming around the sea lanes behind your lines. you need to find a way to punish him for that. Make him play a little more conservative. You have any swords around? I would put them in the DEI to deal with those BBs

I just put 24 Banshees in Bandeng. Bomb load - 1 x 1000lb bomb.

I could move the swords in Singapore to Batavia.

Also I have 12 x Wildebeast in Columbo.

T and I discussed house rules. He said the only thing he did not want me doing was issuing orders on turn 1. I did not (not even to turn off replacements). He said anything other than this was perfectly okay with him. So I am wondering....

Speedy asked me what was different about T’s mod. Using his documentation as a guide here is a summary. It basically only adds or deletes ships.

It's worth it - try to get the unit to Sydney to rebuild, and it will help repair all the ships there. Asiatic Fleet can grow to the largest of the Naval HQs of the Allies, iirc.

Well, I was outsmarted. The surface combat TF headed south. I will send the Banshees to Sorejaba. However it appears the carriers will link with the battleships. We have to try.
