Howard7x,

I'm not sure what you mean. The equipment estabs have always had pictures. However, they are only accessible in the ScenMaker app, not the Game. We are hoping to include more estab data in the Game, including pictures.

That would be nice.

I need clarification. I asked many moons ago whether BftB would have better weapons graphics as part of the "game". I understoon back then in BtfB, that you would be able to click on a button or silhouette and the get a more accurate silhouette or picture of ... for example a - Tiger Ie or a Sherman Firefly, etc. ... I gather from your post this may not be part of the game. Is that a correct assumption? (key word: may not) Correct me please if I read more into your message than you meant.

I wish BtfB would have more discript graphical info on equipment and weaponry for immersion reasons. CotA took one step up when they replaced the truck symbols with a small generic tank symbol (in the equip tab) for an armored fighting vehicle ... aka tank. (if you look back you'll see I was one of the first to point this out)

Many of the good wargames have accurate (or semi accurate) graphics for weapons and equipment such as SSG's games and PzC's (black/white and color, respectively). Immersion is important in these games since you basically play from a map view.

Thanks for some great games

Yeah i was pointing to equipment pictures instead of symbols in the estab. Its only a minor point, just something i would love to see but it makes no odds im still buying it [;)] I can but hope...

The approach we'll take ( assuming we have time ) would be that if you click on an item in the Equipment tab of a unit's dat in the sidebar, then its estab data will we be displayed is a separate are below the list. This would have a photo of the item along with as much relevant data as we can squeeze into the space available. We may provide multiple tab views for the estab data, but again that will depend on time available.

Sounds good to me.

Do you have any screenshots of the snow terrain yet?
Cheers

See Post #34 of the New Stuff thread: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1723551&mpage=2&key=

This was taken at night though and it's using some "temp" map patterns for now. We're waiting on Bil Hardenberger to provide us with a definitive and polished set. Once they are in I'll try and remember to post up some samples.

Hi all,

We have just been contracted to Defence, here in Australia, for a month. This will delay BFTB a little. It won't now be possible to make an Origins release. We will aim for August. On the good side, there will be more time to refine and polish those scenarios.[:)]

Oh well, I just started a new company myself, and probably should think about making a living.

"Every cloud has a silver lining".

With the cost of fuel these day's, I could use a second job myself.

In the UK unleaded petrol is over £1 ($2) a litre - 3/4 is tax. Think how painful that would be! [:D]

When that day comes, there will be many more folks riding the bus. But again, this won't be all bad-you can do a little bit of war gaming during your commute.

When do you think I got the time to test BFTB ?
Train, my friend, is the key.

I would actually like to try that. Unfortunately, the fancy tram in Las Vegas was built with the tourists in mind, not the locals. The bus can serve the same purpose, but painfully slow. More time to play, I suppose.

Will the game include estabs for the British /Canadian / Free French Armies?

(I'm looking ahead. Well , behind really... [:D] )

British Line, Para, and Guards are included. Canadians would share the same kit as the brits as would the Free French and the US I believe.

Thanks.

Well, since I'm in question time, is bocage one of the terrain types available?

Also, how are 'Skorzeny' type units simulated in the engine? Any special characteristics? (generally, deception units)

My poor knowledge of the system probably shows, but, is there anything in the system to simulate the German plan to use US supply dumps when they could get their hands on them? And is there any possibility to destroy those dumps (not feasible to move them on the time-scale / ground conditions probably) to avoid such capture?

Customizing terrain types is easy in Map Maker. A bocage terrain and map Pattern was developed for some of the Normandy scenarios done for HTTR. It works quite well.

Panzer Brigade 150 makes an appearance in 1 scenario depicting it's assault on Malmedy. The mixed German/US equipment is represented in special estabs, and they get a green on black instead of white on black background, but other than that they don't get any special deception modifier. Historically they didn't really fool anybody at the time the unit was commited.

No, you can't capture any dumps and I don't think Dave intends to add such a feature for BFTB. You can definitely destroy an enemy supply base and that could definitely cause supply problems after a day or 2.

Just like in the plethora of board games covering this subject, trying to represent the capturing of fuel is a bit problematic in that we know where the Americans had these dumps. It would be nice to somehow get some benefit for capturing supplies, perhaps for the Africa module?
