Ive played Grigsby games from the start. Guadalcanal Campaign on the Apple. Bomb Ally (one of my favorites). War in the South Pacific. Steel Panthers. PacWar played for years. Never played UV. Got this game as a gift from a friend that I used to play PacWar with. He never had time to play it though. Played it almost from day 1 pretty much non-stop.

SPI - War in the Pacific (that's right...the monster[;)]) > PACWAR > UV >WITP......[:)]

Somewhere, War in the South Pacific is in there, but i am not sure if it was a direct progression or not... it covered (about) the same territory as UV...

I forgot Carrier Strike, which was the predecessor to PACWAR I believe.

I bought game soon after it came out...the 4th I think, and have been playing it pretty much ever since. I still play other games as distractions, but love the depth and complexity of WITP.

Waiting patiently for WIR though...

Sonny II also bought me a copy at Origins in Jun 2004.  It's been on my HD ever since and the game I play more than any other.

I got WitP about Jan 2005 as I recall (joined the forum finally 6 months latter). I got WitP after having UV for about 6 months. WitP stayed on my hard drive ever since (can't say the same for UV - though it had great potential).

I had been looking for a replacement for SSI's "War in the South Pacific" for years, I thought UV was it - but WitP became my game of choice.

Really haven't touched much else since - certainly not in the strategy genre.

Played PacWar since '95, found Matrix in early '02 and got sucked into UV (took 5 days to get to me, lol). Then Mogami showed me the Dark Side of the force with WitP as a tester... I've been cooked ever since...

I bought WIPT in July 2004 at Origins a few days after it came out. The initial price was high, but when you divide that by all the hours I have spend playing it, it has been an incredible barging.

Bought it immediatelly, and have it permanently installed on all 3 of my PCs (do I get brownie points for that? [;)])

Only if he plays it at the same time[;)]

Downloaded it on the first day. Have transferred it to two laptops since. Have two PBEMS going, about to start a third.

Bah! You'll never do as a copyrights protection lawyer. If they were serious about it, they'd sue him for everything he owns, his children will own and his grandchildren will own the instant he thought about ever moving it to a computer other than the one it was initially installed on, let alone copying it.

I got it at Origins 2004 about a half hour after they opened for business. Been playing every day since with 3 PBEMs now going and a fourth starting up. I guess I'll be playing it for quite a while longer.

I also date my involvement, or perhaps investment in WitP, in the UV days. Back in 03' I think it was, can't remember. I got UV very early in it's life and played consistently with several longstanding members of the forum here. I made the transition to WitP by haunting the forum here as the development progressed and the long awaited release was lamented by mob.

Without a doubt UV/WitP has been THE primary occupation of my time since I picked it up. My expenses toward other games have dropped to nearly zero, and while I am not as visible on the forum as I once was I still check the threads here regularly and am actually more involved in the game as a modder than I am as player currently.

I am thrilled to see not only the old stalwarts regularly returning to the fold, but the new blood that continually flows into our little community here at the Matrix 2by3 WitP Forum. I also look forward to the continuing progress of our "Baby" through continued support and the endless efforts of the concerned modders who strive to make it better and better.

Three cheers for Matrix, The Mods (Joe, Don et al), and the community!

Rediscovered Pac War (one of the best) and Matrix about a year and a half before UV was made. Played UV from the start and got WITP right away. I only dabbled with scenairos and now have just started my first two campaigns about four weeks ago.

Way too much fun.

OMG, I have been such a fool...........[;)]
