It is possible. Some heavy changes to the code and it will come "as real as it gets (in the battlefield)"... only problem in so long period is research, but it's not a big problem... only takes a bit more time than in WW2 or WW1, because T-80UM2 Chiorny Orion is not propably very well known outside Russian Secret Service (if they have money for one Image)...

Why not two games, divided not by time period, but by type. Both would be 1950-2005. Call one Heavy Metal. This is big nation warfare, Warsaw Pact vs N.A.T.O., Iran-Iraq, Gulf War, India-Pakistan
Vietnam, Falklands, etc. Call the other Brushfire Wars. This is Portuguese colonial wars, the Bush War, SWA, Angolan Civil War, Ethiopia-Eritrea, Somalia, Nicaragua, Chechnaya, etc. Develop two new game engines. Sell both. Make money.

...and if enough research is made, the OOB's will be correct on every year from 50 to 05... it's just a matter of time spent on research...
