Too bad your harddrive gave up the ghost.  It looks like the summer and fall of '63 are mia.  Oh well, stuff happens.  Thanks for continuing this aar.

I've invited Erik to view page two of the AAR thread. Of course, any comments he posts, will appear on this page. Just thought I'd mention it, so that nobody thinks he's snooping where he shouldn't be. The latest turn's screenshots will be posted tomorrow, to give him some time to view the thread, without accidentally stumbling on my plans...[;)]

JAMiAM, Erik isn't a tester but a paper pusher and he's getting spanked. Sounds like you picked up the game quick. Want to pick on a bigger guy?...lol...I have time for 1 new game before new testing...My e-mail is mskaroke@hotmail.com...FOW, limited command, and historical leaders, I take it you like CSA. Let me now...

A paper pusher, eh? How's that new PBEM working out for ya, Jon? [:D]

But yeah, I never claimed to be a master at this. I've been getting quite an "education". [;)]

Turn Sixteen, October 1862. This screenshot shows the forces arrayed in the battles that Erik launched, and I reacted to.

I can't believe I tried to block the river with a transport fleet. I must have been channeling Butler when I did that turn.

Well, I'm glad you tried something different -- it gives us all food for thought. As you say, one or the other strategy might've worked alone, but both together has proven a bit painful. Still, this thing isn't over yet. If your generals ever start getting the initiative, the tide might turn a bit...

I'm afraid those in combination, along with later mistakes I made in my attempts to recover from them, were not really recoverable. However, we're pretty close to the end now and I'm just trying to go out with a bang. Hopefully I'll be able to pull of something spectacular before they vote me out of office!

Sherman has overrun Harpers Ferry with the Death Star...

Hehe, nice one ... and he later managed to (barely) defeat Lee, though I paid for that with the loss of Hancock and Reynolds (and only won because you lost Jackson and Longstreet). Probably my favorite of our battles so far.

I was able to steal enough supplies, and have been slowly building a small stockpile, to afford forts in each of the regions.

You should post the cavalry raid results for our most recent turn (if you haven't already). I think there are hoofprints all over my depots.

Sorry Erik, but in your own words you've been behind that desk to long. The CSA has a long road to win, and the fat lady ani't sung yet. James has learned this game faster than anyone, I may have droped from 3rd best to 4th. Jan and Joel being the first 2, in that order.

Dont count me as good for this game. From what I am reading from these AAR you guys are easily ahead of me by now. My congratulations to JAMIAM for playing so strongly after such a short while - I am definitely enjoying reading these AAR.

Per Erik's request. The results of the raids, with some other derring-do thrown in for good measure.

Turn Thirty-Four, April 1864. The raiding results screenshot above, came from this turn, and is slightly out of sequence. This shot shows the starting SitRep for the turn, before all the events documented above. I'll post the ending SitRep later, after I get home from work. The turn was opened on the laptop at work, played a bit, saved and then sent to myself in email, so that I could finish at home.

Turn Thirty-Five, May 1864. This screenshot shows the main set of battles that Erik has initiated for me to respond to.

Oops...I meant to say in the screenshot commentary that some of my forces from Tuscaloosa should remain UNspotted...

Turn Thirty-Five, May 1864 continued. This screenshot shows the results of this turn's battles in the west, and the final SitRep for that Theater. Things did not go well for Erik.

Turn Thirty-Five, May 1864 continued. This screenshot shows the results of the Battle for Fredericksburg. A resounding defeat of Sherman that left my forces more displaced than I would have liked.

Turn Thirty-Five, May 1864 continued. The final SitRep in the Eastern Theater. Though Dickson is really in the West, it shows up on this shot better since it is so far north of the action there. I've had AS Johnston launch an attack there to give Grant a few more ulcers.

Turn Thirty-Six, June 1864. Starting SitRep for the turn. The results of the battles for Dickson and Biloxi (from the replay and report) are shown.

Turn Thirty-Seven, July 1864. This screenshot shows the starting SitRep, with my reaction to Grant's attack at Tupelo. My elation turned to dread, when I realized that I had neglected to assign leaders to some forces in adjacent regions and they would be unable to assist in the battle.
