The nation of the "Sea Raiders" prepares some top secret weaponry. Since their economy is poor they make do with what they have. Notice the "stone glare" from this warriors face. Pure fire!

You might want to ad Russ to your contacts so it is not blocked.  I had the same issue with George.

On the Diplomacy front:

AD is at war with everyone
George is at peace with everyone except AD
Seille is at peace with George having rejected my overture
Arditti is also at peace with me.

On the production from, I still build cargo ships but am shifting to fighter production.  It will be very important to have lots of units with a single fighter with recon so my ships know where to go. 

Imho the game would be much more interesting without full level I tech.
The pressure to produce tons of PP´s to egalize a enemy tech advantage was always a challenge.
Now it´s very easy.
 

You may still have to produce alot of pp since R&D is twice as expensive.  Fighter I is free.  Getting to Fighter IV will cost more than 1500 pp in upgrades. 

...turn to Archduke.  I am at peace with the Vikings(Tom) and the Phoenecians(George).  All other treaties have been rebuffed so far.  Expansion continues.  My homeland is labeled "None Land".  The sea off my capitol is labeled "Friendly Area"...unusual.  Research is extremely expensive.  Interesting.

This map is horrible! It's like a jigsaw with all those little islands scattered around! This is going to be a hell of an island-hopping campaign.

I found a couple of islands and they all have very rough terrain.  I wish I could trade in my level 4 tanks for some level 4 ships. 
 
I am at peace with all regimes except for Seille. 
 
I am now producing engineers, cargo ships and planes in equal ammounts (from a production standpoint).  I am producing about half as many rifle and smg for occupation duties.

Turn to Archduke,
  Have not found a large city yet.  Hopefully soon.  I appear to be edged out with production by the other nations.  I am at peace with all nations except Archduke and Seille.

Mhh, just checked the "barbarians". Are you sure they have a 50% combat bonus ?
Can´t see it checking statistics -> people.
Shouldn´t it be visible there ? Not that i care about too much, just wondered.
