Okay, thanks everybody. It's going to be Option A, the Big One. I'll have to roll out some additional Japanese fun to balance it a bit.
Balance Schmalance...anybody who wants to play 1945 wants to see slaughter...plus whowever would want to play Japan in 1945 is beyond me...might be a good Tutorial type Scenario for an Allied player though.[:)]

Well, there's probably going to be something like 15,000 Kamikazes...

Not to mention hundreds of midget subs, Kaiten and suicide motor boats, jets, rockets, napalm, Tiger Force, ETO units, the British Pacific Fleet, and, and, and...

Any thoughts about Soviet involvement? How will Korea be handled?

None. The Soviets don't get involved, Stalin reneging on his promise to go to war with the Japs.
He takes the long view that the US will be severely weakened taking Japan, and unwilling to stand against him in his post-war ambitions, so he can take what he wants in Asia anyway. Not unrealistic, given Stalin's way of thinking.

Even though its late, Im glad to see that A is the final choice. More realism is the name of the game for WitP anyways right? [:D]

Does micromanagement, as a rule, equal realism? Of course, if you don't get a major shot of jollies from micromanagement you shouldn't be anywhere near WiTP anyway. Option A it is.

Well the micromanagement is WiTP is tolerable, but I do avoid it whenever possible. [;)]

First choice is B, but with a condition. Only if we can have off map boxes for the Marianas and Philippines.
Otherwise option A is best IMO.

With the new loading rates and such, in this case, yes. Otherwise, the Allied played would be limited to how much they can put onto assault shipping any given day since instead of having the Phillipines, Marinas and Okinawa, they will only have Okinawa. Even if Okinawa was abstracted as a level 10 port, the Allies (I assume) would be greatly limited as to how much shipping they could deal with on any given day.
This doesnt take into account the additional stacking penalties for planes and troops, which also would become a problem if only Okinawa were available.

A number of people have asked for "off-map" boxes for the small scenario...just so everyone knows - the off-map boxes are hard coded in the game, so as the game is currently designed it is not possible to introduce new or different boxes.

You mean like when the Warsaw Uprising began, and the locals had been led to believe the Soviet army would march to their aid, and sat something like 20 miles away, cooling their heels?
The world remembers and one must choose ones bed-fellows very carefully.
