I too have had repeated CTD's, running dual Centrino, Vista64 after the update. I got around the problem by directly booting the exe in the WiTP AE folder. I was able to continue on with my saved game with no problem, although I think it is running slower. I assume all this did was eliminate the switches, which I couldn't figure out how to change anyway. I assume that suggest that there is some kind of conflict with the switches in the update.

I hope you've found the bug.
I did some testing of my problem.
I'm up to Nov 42
Scen 1
PDU on
Playing Allied v the AI - CTD
Playing Head to Head - runs OK
Playing v the Allied AI - runs OK. (Interseting to see what AI did to my careful setup!)
If I save either of these and go back to Allied v AI it crashes.
If I start a new game it runs OK.
I thought it may have been due to the patch removing some units which started in vanilla ( i.e the VMFB's)

I´m also getting CTDs for the first time ever. Started a new game as Allied vs the AI with the new patch. So far its crashed three times when processing the turn.

The issue was an array out of bounds issue - we have corrected it and are working on a "hot fix".

Thanks guys! Great to hear though I have been able to play just fine with -Deepcolor removed. Hopefully that makes sense to you based on the array out of bounds issue.

No actually doesn't. The array out of bounds issue is air group related and has probably been there for a while - but some of us do not hit it and some of us do. I've never been able to hit it even though I've tried dozens of times.
Hotfix should be out tomorrow.

Is this related to air units which are in game for vanilla, I have 2 VMFB sqns & 1 VMF Sqns with Corsairs which arrived on a CV upgrade. I landed tem on Hilo incase Andy set that as a target.
Now the patc has taken them out of the game is this causing the CTD. (There could be other Air units in a similar situation)
I'll wait for todays hotfix, cos its tomorrow here already!

Just to clarify, I started a new game with the new patch and cannot get beyond the december the 8th. I keep getting a CTD a few seconds into the processing. I see something about CAP and then it crashes...I did as HHI suggested and removed the -cpu switch and now it works.

As they say, "it is all relative".
In simple terms, the 'out of bounds' is overwriting random memory.
Sometimes this is okay as nothing is using that bit of memory.
Other times, it is changing memory that is being used by some other computer function or is accessing memory outside that reserved for the program.
And thus causing the program interruption (CTD).
This is why people see different CTD results even when using the same save. Their computer is using that 'random' piece of memory differently.

Yea so -deepcolor was just a coincidence which is not surprising since it did not help other people. All good news nonetheless.

My crash came on the Dec 14th turn. AI vs US. Crashed early in the turn sequence. I have most things turned off and I do not have a dual core. Running XP. I have the turn 13 and 14 if needed.

I started a game with the 2-day turn option and I could not get thru the 1st turn "run-time" without a crash (several times). I switched 1-day turn and I can get to the 2nd turn without the crash (several times).

Just 84. Just a nugget of info, probably too old. 2-day ... crash. 1-day ... no crash.

The v.1.00.84e Hotfix that resolves this is available now. Please note that this is an incremental Hotfix and must be applied on top of v1.00.84.
It's available now in the Downloads section here:
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/351 ... 's.Edition
Only two changes to address two critical issues:
v1.00.84e Hotfix – September 15, 2009
• Code Changes
1. Corrected an array boundary issue causing occasional crashes.
2. Removed the invalid ship file update from the data update process. This change is in accordance with the documentation for 1.00.84. Games that were already “updated” their data from previous versions to 1.00.84 will unfortunately already have the bad ship file data, but this hot fix allows games that have not yet been updated to safely update. Please note that this issue did not affect new games started with 1.00.84.

I applied the hotfix, ran a turn, and towards the end of my orders, I tried to look at the upgrade path of a squadron of B-17e's that had to be withdrawn (was going to downgrade to b17d's) with an immediate CTD.
