Spy vs Spy
Do not believe the propaganda by Scott, we are playing scenario 2 with plus or minus 60 days arrival, he is trying his spy tactics to lull me as we have not yet spotted or sunk any CV's! or he is very unlucky and his first CV's had minus 60 days. I believe spy propaganda.
Along those lines a month earlier I reported the BC Repulse sunk two days later, I get a message they were mistaken but on the day of sinking 2 Walrus float planes were destroyed (the Repulse carries 2). What to believe? The Repulse has not been seen since, is it repairing in capetown only time will tell.
I was wondering how Scott had those cruisers almost on top of my strike force, it should have taken him several days to get there when I remembered the allied player gets spy intel on my ship movements [:@].
Sub vs Sub
The sub war has been minor in the last week he has sunk 1 TK (small one) off Palembang and his ASW just sank one of my subs of the NW coast Australia.
My subs have sunk 1 APD south of Pearl, and 1 AK heading back to SF. An RO on the 27th finished of DD at Suva maybe? That FOG thing.
Aside from that its been pretty quiet, occasional spotting but not much else.

Well our initial attacks started 2 to 1 and dropped forts to zero, then went 1 to 1 so we rested brought in cruisers and bombers to suppres and finally on the 27th achieved victory pushing the enemy towards Broome, suprisingly only 1 Base force and several command units that don't belong here. Suva
The KB swung SW of Suva to check on shipping after it left New Zealand, arriving on the 27th it launched a morning and afternoon attack that while only scoring one hit on the only DD there, the escort did tear apart the 24 P-39's that showed up to defend. Approx 18 of them went down for a loss of 2 Zero's at most and those crashed on landing.
The RO in the harbor finished off the DD, hopefully that FOG thing again.

Feb 28th and Mar 1st End of month Update
The month of Feb has come to a close, bring us to within 30 days of losing our preperation bonus, so we must finish off our 1st round targets quickly and decide on next assaults!
This month was very good for the Japanese.
Burma
We finally advanced north and captured Rangoon and have advanced up the railline towards Mandalay currently at Toungoo. The allied airforce that once defended Rangoon disapeared to the north. 5 B17's and some P40 escorts hit the troops at Toungoo but this is minor. It appears our forces will have Burma secured by the end of March.
Sumatra/Java/DEI
We have come a long way clearing all of Sumatra except a couple of ports on the west coast, those should be cleared this month. We landed at Java and have Captured Soerabaja and pushed those units to the southern tip. Our other forces are approaching Batavia, this should be cleared out in 2 weeks. This was accomplished currently with 3 divisions plus support. Dutch bombers and subs have claimed 4 to 5 of my transports, a low cost in all for the operation.
Balikapapan, Makasar and Timor and almost all the DEI is secure except the clearing up of the dot bases.
Australia
Our first landings on Aussie soil and we have secured Derby, the 1 base force and 3 HQ's have retreated to broome. These HQ's came from Singapore, and Java (dutch and british). Not sure why they chose to hang out in Derby but they no longer can rest. The allied airforce has vildebeast in broome and sank 1 AK with troops we have pulled shipping back till we can neutralize this force. Allied DD's sank one of our subs on the NW coast, we suspect CV's or POW may be in area [:-].
South Pacific
Noumea is the big adventure here and we have succesfully landed at Koumac and marched down to Noumea wich we reached 2 days ago. Unfortunatly as you will see, the allied command has brought in more Aussies (didn't they learn at Port Morseby aussies cant fight) and US troops. We have the advantage 600 AV to 400 AV but have only bombarded initially to raise detection and test his troops. This may take longer then we thought.

The KB swept down to Noumea to support the invasion and bagged 2 CA's 2 CL's and about 7 DD's chasing them to Brisbane where divebombers broke thru for runs on our precious carriers, it was a scare. Withdrawing back to Noumea the KB swept south hit Auckland and sank many transports (we estimate 11 plus, FOW says only 4 so far). Then we headed to Suva where we tangled with more P-39's and hopefully sank a DD. Our course took us to Pago on March 1st but weather was bad for a launch, there was a convoy there 2 days ago, but it appears to have left.

Here is Burma, I came way late, but luckily I pushed him out of Rangoon after about 3 days of battles, it should be easy to keep pushing, if he had reinforced I would have seen it probably at Pegu.
Chiang Mai is our main airbase, he tried to suppress with B-17's but Oscars at High altitude convinced him the attrition was not worth it. He flew over the altitude zeros can fly at.

Here is the situation in China.
We have recently liberated Sian and Loyang. The troops from Sian retreated north and should pose no threat for a good while.
The troops from Loyang retreated south to chengchow and joined about 11 good units there. Its a massive force of 27 units but it will also eventually fall to the Samurai's.
In the extreme north 4 small units hit the trails and invested Kiuchuen, we initially knocked forts to zero with 2 to 1 assaults but since then damage to our units allow us only 1 to 1 or gashtly 1 to 2. This area is a stalemate and no longer a priority know that Sian is cleared.
We initially pushed troops back to Changsa and have not pushed further due to campaign in north.
Same with the south we have pushed to where you can see and have held.
In the air we fly some bombers not a lot and China does not fly any, The AVG fought at Rangoon and never came to china.

As you can see the Zero has finally become the most lost unit, but I have over 80 in stock and more building!!!!! (Some intel for Scott).
If you notice the P40B/E and I39WH-3 all have high losses his pools must be drained or close to it.
My airpools are growing to the point I may shut them down sometime this month. I have enough Kates, Vals to replace the entire KB which is what I wanted in case of a major battle. I am thinking I need the HI more but will decide later. I know I will lose them during the first major carrier battles.
As far as pilots my pools are strong (get 300 a month scen 2 vs 100 scen 1) with my losses being lower then the replacement rate.
So far I have 136 MIA pilots, 107 WIA pilots and 369 KIA pilots. Even with the replacement pool my quaility has to have gone down as it appears to take quite a few months to get them to high experianced levels I have lost.

WOW My navy sunk 65 ships. [X(][8|] I can only account for 23 so far. [;)] Just wait until April, newer plans arrive. [:'(] My top ace, with 8 kills, is nowhere to be found. [8|][:D] Those transports you thought were at Pago Pago, were never there. [:D]

RO-66 had been cruising on the south east coast of Australia, nothing had been seen. The captain wondered why they had been sent so far was their ship considered useless?
They do not even have enough fuel but to stay a few days. But as a good samurai he would do as ordered.
Suddenly the first officer rushed forward.
"Captain Samurai we have reports of many screw sounds coming from the west!"
The captain quickly raises the periscope and spins around to the heading his exec gave.
A large carrier is seen, he quickly sets up a firing solution and 4 wooshing sounds are heard.
He stays at the scope until a loud explosion is heard, one hit on a carrier. He orders a dive but as his crew is good the enemy does not find him.

Well this is great news, so 2 American carriers are at Australia, well I doubt he sank the Enterprise with one torpedo but it will be in the yard. Alert the KB I think its time to hunt CV's. They must have been coming to interupt our forces unloading at Noumea!

March 5th thru 7th
Burma
We are fighting airbattles over my forward troops, P40E escorting B-17's vs my zero's, Oscars and Nicks. We vanquish the P40's and wittle at the B-17's. Our troops don't seem to be bothered by the show as they advance towards Magwe.
Near Rangoon I have troops marching north to cutoff the troops that retreated from Rangoon. I started Reconning north and spotted Akyab vacant, so paratroopers voluntered to take the base!

Near Rangoon I have troops marching north to cutoff the troops that retreated from Rangoon. I started Reconning north and spotted Akyab vacant, so paratroopers voluntered to take the base!

Well the days of blowing past the allied forces is coming to an end, as our 2 of our advances will take a little longer then thought.
At Batavia our 3 divisions only achieve a 1 to 2 assault, and he has forts to level 3, the airforce is coming back to assist!

KB back in action

March 12th thru 16th 1942
The last 5 days have been pretty much quiet compared to the previous days. At Batavia the Japanese were finally able to achieve a 1 to 1 attack and reduce forts from 3 to 2. Bombing plus the low quality dutch seems to start to tell.
In China we bombard Chengchow for 1500 to 1800 causalties a day and push north from Sian.
Burma we are chasing around the retreated forces from Rangoon and bombarding Magwe, want to make sure to capture this intact as he has 2 baseforces here.
Noumea
This has been were the action has been. Scott brought in a transport escorted by destroyers and picked up that french unit from Noumea, landed it at Lafoe. I only have Lunganville as operational so only could watch as he did it.
I though he was withdrawing fragments, He recaptured Lafoe which brought us to the excitment on the 16th!
The KB which had been away from a while finally showed up 120 miles to the east of Noumea, I had just hoped to bag those 2 DD's and AP.
Instead the dark opened up to CL Mauritus bombarding our toops at Noumea.

Then when the scouts flew out from the KB it not only found the CL Mauritus and Destroyers racing away to the south. It also found another big slow target that was also going to bombard Noumea but was slower, in addition to the 2 DD's and AP at Lafoe.

I for one was shocked to find the BB and CL's in the area, as I am sure Scott was to see the KB come back. I wonder if the CV Lexington is close? The damaged ships should be finished off tommorrow, I expect the colorado to only last one more day.

Then when the scouts flew out from the KB it not only found the CL Mauritus and Destroyers racing away to the south. It also found another big slow target that was also going to bombard Noumea but was slower, in addition to the 2 DD's and AP at Lafoe.
The KB went after all 3 forces in morning and afternoon strikes.

I for one was shocked to find the BB and CL's in the area, as I am sure Scott was to see the KB come back. I wonder if the CV Lexington is close? The damaged ships should be finished off tommorrow, I expect the colorado to only last one more day.

Cdr Okura (of SS I-20) shakes the hand of Lt Aruki. "Welcome aboard Aruki"
Aruki "Thank you sir"
Cdr Okura "The high command has lost faith in our midget subs, since non succeded at Pearl and Suva."
They both look at the I-20 as the midget HA-16 is being put into place
Aruki "I will not dissapoint the empire"
Cdr Okura "Very well, we are headed towards Perth, it is a busy port and hopefully we find a valuable target"
March 17th of the western coast of Australia near Geraldton
Cdr Okura watches thru the periscope as the ship gets larger. His main mission is to launch the midget sub at Perth but this target is to much to pass up. He quickly gives out the calculations and shortly after 6 torpedoes deliver the message to the Australians the I-20 is in the area.

Okura watches the harbor of Perth, it has been an hour since lt Aruki had launched from the mother sub. Okura believed he spotted the periscope enter the harbor but he could not tell for sure. Shortly after a dull explosion is heard thru the hull.
The crew grins they know Aruki has succeded! Okura orders the ship to head north to the rendovous, hopefully Aruki makes it.

They look at each other and realize they won't be going home.
Cdr Okura waits as long as he could then orders the I-20 back to Tokyo, apparently Aurki paid the final sacrifice. A few hours later Okura spots another target thru the periscope and deals out the revenge for Aruki and his brave crewman.

At night, the I-10's floatplane reconnoiters the harbor at Diego Suarez, Madagascar. The plane sights the HMS RAMILLIES, an old 29,150-ton ROYAL SOVEREIGN-class battleship, at anchor in the bay. Also in the harbor are the destroyers HMS DUNCAN and ACTIVE, corvettes HMS GENISTA and THYME, troopship HMS KARANJA, hospital ship ATLANTIS, tanker BRITISH LOYALTY, merchant LLANDAFF CASTLE and an ammunition ship.
Captain Ishizaki orders a midget submarine attack for the next night.
30 May 1942: The Attack on Diego Suarez:
10 miles from Diego Suarez. The I-20 launches her midget submarine under Lt Akieda Saburo with PO1C Takemoto Masami to attack the RAMILLIES. The I-16 also launches her midget, but the I-18's midget suffers engine failure and cannot be launched. At 2025, Lt Akieda's midget torpedoes and heavily damages the RAMILLIES. At 2120, while British corvettes drop depth charges, Akeida torpedoes and sinks the 6,993-ton BRITISH LOYALTY in shallow water. (She is later refloated and sunk off Addu Atoll). Ten days later, the RAMILLIES makes for Durban, Union of South Africa.
Lt Akieda and PO1C Takemoto's craft is beached. Aided by natives, both sailors reach the shore and head for the recovery area.
After the attacks, the I-10's aircraft reconnoiters the harbor twice to assess the results. The missing RAMILLIES is erroneously considered sunk by the IJN.
1 June 1942:
Around 1100, both Japanese are spotted off Anijabe village. The natives report their sighting to the British.
2 June 1942:
Amponkarana Bay (12-00S, 49-12E). Lt Akieda and PO1C Takemoto are intercepted by Royal Marines' Commando No. 5. During the ensuing gunfight both Japanese and one Marine are killed.
3 June 1942:
After the other "mother" submarines depart the recovery area, the I-20 surfaces and unsuccessfully tries to contact the midgets by firing flares and sending radio signals.

Admiral Popeye walked into his office just west of Chinatown. He had good news for General Fabertong. Maybe Fabertong will put him in command of the newest aircraft carrier being built in his personal shipyard at a top secret base. A brand new type of carrier was being built, the Essex class carriers. [:'(]

Heading towards India!
LGen Shozo Sakurai stands on the bow of the Japanese amphibous transport. The night is ominous with Thunderstorms hardly any glint of moonlight. This brings him some comfort. The last 4 days there had always been Thunderstorms, as those the Gods were looking out for them. So far they had not been detected, as far as they could tell. Tommorrow would tell them for sure.
LGen Tadayusi Sano walks from behind and stands at the rail looking out. "Shozo, Is the 33rd Division ready, you have very good men there"
LGen Shozo "Yes, they are very experianced and morale is high, what of the 38th Division, are they ready for more glory!"
LGen Tadayusi "Definatly, we have so far in this war brushed all aside with ease, though this campaign makes me uneasy"
LGen Shozo "Why do you say that?"
LGen Tadayusi "For the last month we have been preparing to invade India at Chittachong, 6 days ago they give us new orders for Diamond Harbor, to cut straight to the heart of Calcutta! I am not sure how my men will take the sudden change in preparation."
LGen Shozo "You saw the recon reports, 6,000 troops at Cox Bazaar, 11 units and over 30,000 troops at Chittachong. When they swept the searches north there were only 2 units and 6k men at diamond and it appears only 5 units at Calcutta! We will easily brush those aside. Don't get me wrong our Samurais could have takken Chittachong, but you know the objective has always been Calcutta, it appears they have moved to far forward. With our current forces not even at Mandalay I don't believe they have enough to defend this area, we should be able to advance quickly."
LGen Tadayusi "That is what worries me, we are too spread out. 2 Divisions still fighting in Burma, 3 Division at Java, 2 Divisions at Noumea. Northern Australia invaded. I would feel better if we concentrated better"
LGen Shozo "You know our high command has always been about speed, push the Samurais because they can take it, let the weak capitalist sit and wait. I believe even this weather is a sign, it has cloaked our advance, we have assembled the largest invasion yet of the war! We have samurais, artillary, tanks and even our top HQ personal have come along. We cannot be stopped. Our carriers will provide us protection in the morning and our battleships will clear the way and pound the enemies guns! You will see we will be in Calcutta in a week!"
LGen Tadayusi "I agree with you, what fools the allies are to try and interfere in asian politics, we shall show them a lesson and let the indian people know we are here to liberate them!"
The two generals notice a large dark ship pass on the port side, it begins to pick up speed, several others join with it and dissapear into the gloom.

Heading towards India!
LGen Shozo Sakurai stands on the bow of the Japanese amphibous transport. The night is ominous with Thunderstorms hardly any glint of moonlight. This brings him some comfort. The last 4 days there had always been Thunderstorms, as those the Gods were looking out for them. So far they had not been detected, as far as they could tell. Tommorrow would tell them for sure.
LGen Tadayusi Sano walks from behind and stands at the rail looking out. "Shozo, Is the 33rd Division ready, you have very good men there"
LGen Shozo "Yes, they are very experianced and morale is high, what of the 38th Division, are they ready for more glory!"
LGen Tadayusi "Definatly, we have so far in this war brushed all aside with ease, though this campaign makes me uneasy"
LGen Shozo "Why do you say that?"
LGen Tadayusi "For the last month we have been preparing to invade India at Chittachong, 6 days ago they give us new orders for Diamond Harbor, to cut straight to the heart of Calcutta! I am not sure how my men will take the sudden change in preparation."
LGen Shozo "You saw the recon reports, 6,000 troops at Cox Bazaar, 11 units and over 30,000 troops at Chittachong. When they swept the searches north there were only 2 units and 6k men at diamond and it appears only 5 units at Calcutta! We will easily brush those aside. Don't get me wrong our Samurais could have takken Chittachong, but you know the objective has always been Calcutta, it appears they have moved to far forward. With our current forces not even at Mandalay I don't believe they have enough to defend this area, we should be able to advance quickly."
LGen Tadayusi "That is what worries me, we are too spread out. 2 Divisions still fighting in Burma, 3 Division at Java, 2 Divisions at Noumea. Northern Australia invaded. I would feel better if we concentrated better"
LGen Shozo "You know our high command has always been about speed, push the Samurais because they can take it, let the weak capitalist sit and wait. I believe even this weather is a sign, it has cloaked our advance, we have assembled the largest invasion yet of the war! We have samurais, artillary, tanks and even our top HQ personal have come along. We cannot be stopped. Our carriers will provide us protection in the morning and our battleships will clear the way and pound the enemies guns! You will see we will be in Calcutta in a week!"
LGen Tadayusi "I agree with you, what fools the allies are to try and interfere in asian politics, we shall show them a lesson and let the indian people know we are here to liberate them!"
The two generals notice a large dark ship pass on the port side, it begins to pick up speed, several others join with it and dissapear into the gloom.
LGen Tadayusi "That is the Hyuga and Kongo, they are moving out to clear the way, See you on the shore Shozo"
With that the two men turn and go below to ready their troops.
