We don't have any '45 scenarios yet.

Looks pretty cool! Reminds me of the old monster board game by SPI "War in the East"!! Possibly even a bit more detailed. Is there going to be a campaign game from the start of the war to the end?

I don't think there will be any '45 scenarios. What would be the point but I have several '44 ones working.

A lot more detailed, and I'm speaking as one who pre-ordered SPI's game when I was in high school and spent most of one Summer playing it when I first got it. Loved that game, especially after I found out about the major rule change that shut down on-map Soviet factories as soon as they lost 100 units (and people think only computer games need "patches").

As for campaigns, yes the Campaign 41-45 goes the distance.

Joel,
Speaking as another War in the East pre-orderee, I didn't know about the on-map factories shutting down. Maybe that's why the Soviets usually won games my friends and I played...

What language is GG's War in the East written in? Does it utilize multi-cores? RAM, minimum and optimal?

It's written in C++, to my knowledge, although I think Gary does a lot of stuff in ways that are more similar to older C. I am not a programmer so hopefully one of the programmers can speak to your questions.

The rule, IIRC, was that all on-map armaments factories did not function once 100 Soviet units were destroyed. I played a 2v2 team game for months and as Soviets we shut down the Germans easily in 41/early 42. It was only after that game that I found out about the armaments rule change that appeared in Moves Magazine (IIRC).

1024x768 is the max resolution?

No it supports most resolutions including widescreen.

Joel,

I think (and am pretty sure) that you both are confusing the War in the East 2nd edition rules (aka War in Europe) with this. One of the great things about the 1st edition is that each factory produced items at its hex, if factories were trapped they could still produce in their area (much like Fire in the East/Scorched Earth) but in WIE and the 2nd edition SPI changed the rule to be a global community of producing factories and then the rule if the the Germans capture the star cities the Soviets would loose production value for a time (some many cycles).

Whoops I stand corrected from the Nov. errata...

[15.8] ARMS CENTER DISRUPTION When playing the Historical Campaign Game, all on-map Russian Arms Centers cease all production as soon as a cumulative total of 100 Russian ground combat units of any type have been eliminated. Arms Centers in Siberia are not affected.

dlazov66,

You are correct that War in Europe did introduce a lot of changes to WitE production, etc., not always for the better.

The Germans got those nasty 13-8 SS panzer divisions that could overrun rifle divisions left, right, and center.
The victory conditions were, IIRC, that the German had to control all the on-map Soviet personnel centers, which was next to impossible. The Siberians started arriving on the first mud turn...Soviet anti-tank and artillery divisions were key.

I can't wait! Please, when do we go beta?

I was wondering is that the only counter view available, not that I am complaining but just wondering if there are other unit views.

If not that is A-OK

Only one counter set, but the art is easily modded so it's likely there will be other choices after release.
