Hey, I've never lived outside the south and I HATE summer here. You can always put more on. When you are buck naked and sweating like drunk john on a cheap whore, it's just wrong.

As they used to say in JAX....AIR CONDITIONING! BEST INVENTION EVER!!!!!![:D]

The reality is that while you've characterised various forms of commentary response to your myriad complaints rather well it doesn't in any way show that there's more validity to your initial complaints than to their ripostes. I see more and more why so many devs got burned out in these fora and left.

Well, I could have said misidentified, pilloried, branded or tatooed. I guess those would have been better choices...

Or perhaps, "Apparently I am skeptic #17". [:D]

There. Did I demonstrate the ability to take offense to the hijacked subject of a Thread that was REALLY cool while at the same time interjecting politics so the Thread might get locked? Does that get to count as one on the list?

In a word....yes. [:D]

The point was levity.

Perhaps a lot of the sceptical responses are generated by the tone the Disputer uses as much as the content of his observations.

Another possibility is his tendency to think (or write as though he thinks) that the single data point of his one PBeM game is enough basis for making definitive conclusions about the state of WitP:AE.

100% agree.

Canoerebel refuses to accept any suggestion that the combination of his tactics and strategy, his opponents's tactics and strategies, and game mechanics WAD won't always add up to favorable combat results. Instead, he blames the game for his losses, loudly claiming to have found a "genuine anomaly that needs to be addressed". The complete lack of corroborating evidence from other players doesn't faze him; he dismisses all those who disagree as "complainers" who "don't like him", as he continues to post his daily episodes of "Whine in the Pacific: Angst Edition".

Canoerebel, you have beaten this "dead horse" so much it's bones have been ground into dust. Could you please just stop the constant complaining?

wow...was that on que or what? [X(]

Have to be careful Canoerebel with these replies lest you be drawn into a trap to get you band from the forum.

There seem to be many more people who think you are spot on with your post.

Yeah, we have a couple of inches here in Rome (Georgia).  But the roads are fine.

Ah ha gotcha, everyone knows that Rome is in Italy. Knew darn well you didn't know what you were talking about.[:D]

I am playing as Japan in a PBEM and we are in mid 43, I have no clue how many subs I have sank but it seems to have come down a lot over the last half year of game play, I have half of my bomber force on ASW and hunter groups but go not sink may and half the time US subs sink one of ASW force.

The Allied B 24's are shotting 2 to 3 Nicks down a night over the last few weeks. I don't know if that is excesive or not. Also there is no fear for surface ships as they never seem to be spotted by both of us until it is to late, but I am still way to timid with my ships from playing WiTP to much. The Allies can still move fast if you do not take PM becasue they will render Raubal worthless with night bombing. The pace of the Allied counter attack seems fast, but it could be becasue freeboy has no fear and does not mind losing many cargo ships in inviasions.

Also sweeps eat thing up, I did not use them much (make I should have ealier in the game) but his sweeps from the New Ireland to Turk have eaten me up.

Allso have come to wonder how fatigue is really handled in the game for pilots, his planes fly long distance a lot but I am not sure how much it efects his pilots, same with night bombing over and over. I guess I am timid in using my pilots to much in long flights over and over from in WiTP taking many op loses and fatigue and moral hits.

OK my Japanese PBEM rant over

I'm getting the feeling that the majority of us that are responding in this post are doing the same as Canoerebel, simply blowing off steam through humor. This thread has been a nice change except for the one or two that take every thing serious or lack a sense of humor.

Now then, to more serious matters...no one has yet answered the question, Cheddar or Swiss? [:D]

Question is, has anybody experienced similar results to Canoerebel? This is important because there has to be a definitive pattern.

Yes, but I have not quantified it. I see what seems an extraordinary number of ASW ships getting sunk, but I don't want to admit it, I just want to be a skeptic:

There is nothing wrong with the game! The developers were conceived by the deity in a state of perfection and we should never be so presumptuous as to question that[:D]

Yes. I suffered the loss of 5 ASW group DD's off Oahu during the first two weeks of game time. Didn't matter that there was aircraft ASW support in all the hexes and the subs were spotted continuously..., or that the only TF's I sent out were ASW TF's. Used to be that such actions would push the Japanese into spreading out or moving to less-protected areas. This time my opponent didn't even seem to bother to move his subs at all. It's been absurd.

I have found that this is not so bad when I get experience on the ships really high and select a TF commander with a very high Surface Rating, but the losses are still over the top.

Canoerebel, perhaps but this is also pretty much the same argument you make about those responding to you when posting putative bug reports in a serious manner.

I am deeply concerned about the serious lack of irony in some of these replies. I want a call to action here! We must all be firm and demand only the most serious sense of irony when writing replies.[;)]

Just change the thread title to "The Baby Thread" and it's all good.

The AI subs will move out from heavy ASW patrols, but it takes a lot.  I've got at least half a dozen squadrons of planes flying ASW patrol off of the SF/San Diego area, plus 5 different ASW TF's of 3-5 ships each patrolling the area.  The subs have shifted west outside of the coverage area after I sank/damaged a couple.

The voice of reason appears as I predicted - with just enough oil on the water to seem peaceful.

And for some of the rest of you, it's not *cheese*

it's *peas*

So gouda is no butter, er, better.
