Andre is making the final allocations on that, so he'd have to comment. I might try to talk him into sending it to Palembang first. [8D]

Can't Nells and Bettys carry 800kg bombs?
Yes. There were some 800kg hits on the ships in Manila from the Port bombing raids.
ETA: The SS likely limped out of Manila badly damaged and succumbed to mortal wounds near Jesselton.

Is this just port attacks or can they carry 800kg bombs on naval attack as well?

Hmmm...we must have had a misunderstanding about the 38th ID and support.
My intent was to send it (and the artillery) to Luzon to push the Allies out of Clark in the short term. After the Allies are bottled up on Bataan, I intended to repurpose the 38th and another ID (and support) for operations elsewhere in the DEI.
I'm still undecided on their tier III destination, but willing to entertain the discussion.
My thoughts for the 38th ID (and attached) after kicking the Allies out of Clark-in no particular order of preference:
1. Use available forces to immediately liquidate Bataan.
2. Transport 38th ID to the Malay peninsula to reinforce siege of Singapore.
3. Transport 38th ID to Kalidjati-start an 'early Java'.
Palembang would be my fourth or fifth choice. I was still under the impression, Mynok, that we were going to attempt paracapture of Palembang with all available para detachments, thus obviating the need for an entire IJAA ID.

Just my 2 cents. Someone (Q-Ball, I think) suggested in my PBEM an early invasion of Java. I figured I'd take one base and put some fighters there to clean the Dutch Air Force's clock. The invasion took my opponent totally by surprise. I didn't expect to take Java until after Singapore fell. I cut Java in half and destroyed the Dutch army piecemeal. That would be my first suggestion. Second - Singapore. Last - Philippines.
Why that order? I already explained Java. The Philippines are just a thorn that needs to be removed. It ain't gonna fall till the supply runs out. Bombing (I think) is the key.
Singapore need bombing, attacks and most of all, supply. If I had kept my supply levels high enough, I'd have probably taken it ~3 weeks earlier. I'm not sure if another division makes that much difference.

As Mike said, I am a big proponent of an early Java. The KNIL starts very weak, but gets much stronger as time goes on, and they recover disabled squads and build experience through training.
The same can be said for the KNIL airforce; until March, you barely even need aircover to land on Java, because the KNIL airforce can't hit a ship to save their life without 2-3 months training.
A landing at Semarang or Kalidjati or both would split the defenders, or commit the KNIL to either Batavia or Soerbaya. Either outcome is good for you. You can take your time clearing the middle of the island, and giving yourself a rail network to liquidate both cities, if they choose to defend both.
You have the right idea on Luzon I think; force the Allies back on Clark, then pull most of your units and move on. There isn't much the Allies can do to counter that; if they fight outside Clark, they risk getting split-up and defeated in clear terrain, which would also be a good outcome for you.

Like I said, Andre will have to comment. I have an old man's memory, i.e. it left sometime ago and does not appear to be returning. [:'(]

Yep. I'm loading up the SNLFs already. Just need to get the 1st Raiders down there and transport. Of course, supplementing it with some ground forces can't hurt. See my PM.

Mynok,
Let's make sure to have some recon go over Sumatra before dropping anyone in there. If the Allies have elected to pull everyone back to Palembang in a "Sumatra Snare" defensive gambit, it could be unpleasant for an undermanned para contingent to deal with. Lemme look around for a IJA regiment I can spare too...

ARGH! Can't believe they left them there and can't believe they missed!
Rabaul and Kavieng invaded this turn. Should go down in the next.
Manado is next.
90th Rgt from Korea is headed to the DEI and will be destined for Kendari. We are now going for an early beachhead on Java with some SNLFs from Hainan. The 38th ID will follow from Hong Kong. Lift is heading there to pick it up.
The Saigon IJNAF forces are going to Singkawang ASAP. They'll be needed to keep Allied surface forces in check for our early Java invasion.

Mynok, don't forget to send some air support with those SNLFs destined for Java. Then you can park a Zero daitai there and destroy the Dutch Air Force. You'll get several more elite pilots out of it too.

Philosophically, I think this task is more mission-suited to the IJAAF. The IJNAF with their superior early war A6M2s are more dear than IJAAF Oscars, IMO. The Dutch AF can be readily reduced with IJAAF contributions, thus freeing up the A6M Daitai.

Bravo on early Java!
What is your Phase 2 target? I don't think it's too soon to ask, because you can start prepping divisions in Manchuria, and buy them out later.
I always make an early buy of the 90th Inf Regt, like you guys did. It's cheap, and very experienced.

Chengchow falls! We continue to encircle the remnants at Loyang. Maps to follow.
The Wake situation is problematic due to lack of available troops to reinforce. We did bring a carrier out
and subs will be heading to attempt to intercept. Lots are in the area expecting just such an incursion.

As promised, some situational maps.

Ops continue in Malaya with the hard push beginning. Further south, as soon as Singkawang falls, Netties will be basing there to interdict shipping and support invasions of Palembang and Java.

We are moving on Manila while preparing to pin the Clark forces in place. They will then be besieged.
Manado is receiving reinforcemens and Ternate will be invaded. Mindanao will be invaded next with the first objective being Davao.

We had a fortunate shock attack at Chengchow when I forgot about the river crossing effect. As it is, many troops are holed up in Loyang and we will encircle and eliminate them. Other small ops are clearing the roads and rails in the south and between Hangkow and Chengchow.

Here are the Wake losses. The AMCs hurt in points.
2:1 for us in plane losses. They have been especially hurt in fighters, which is good news.
