Well the raid into Sorebaya was certainly interesting! We loose a DD, have 5 badly banged up and 4 BB's with light to medium damage... The bombardment was a fizzle as a result, although the BC Repulse is reported sunk, even though it wasn't in any of the engagements... They may have scuttled her after damage from last turn, figuring it would cost less points wise... although she is listed as 202 VP's.

They sent out all their combat ships, but there are still over 50 ships bottled up in Harbour... we may be able to keep them trapped there yet...

A series of prelim battles with PT's sees no damage to us, but 3 Dutch and 3 UK boats are sunk.

Analaysis.
The appearance of B-17 in Burma is useful intelligence. It looks like at one stage they were going to try and make a stand there... hence all the shipping, and we think they have bought in more brigades...

It also indicates (along with other intel) that Java and Sumatra are not being reinforced.

The potential/likely loss of 5 DD's to mines is rather annoying, but so far our ship losses are very low, 1 BB, 1 CA, 3 DD. And whilst the BB's got hit by the mines they will recover, and with their current strategy, and the loss of a lot of ships, the BB's are not essential at the moment.

The Battle of Clark will be intersting... we will probably wait for another Div to come up before anything is really done... we have also considered withdrawing force to use elsewhere... which is increasingly tempting...

The next couple of turns should cement in a few things and help to guide us on what opportunities to go for.

We have cleared the DEI of combat ships, and have bottled about 50 ships up in Sorebaya. The Betties, subs and SCTF can probably get most of them.

KB is in an interesting position and is unseen.

They appear to be not reinforcing Sumatra, Java or the DEI.

They appear to be pulling out in Burma. The AVG has vacated Rangoon.

Our challange is to clear Malaya and the Philippines quickly. The first is likely, the second we are not confident about.

We expect to take PM and settle into our SWPAC lines without too much hassle.

Our damaged ships again avoid the Dutch subs... just. Only the DD's are at sea, float damage is slowly dropping.

Malaya
They are moving more forces into our blocking position. We are moving the forces out of Mersing to to country block position. It looks like they may have moved a unit up from the south as the hex side maybe showing green... we may need to move one of our units south to close it.

DEI
Clearing up dot bases, getting our damaged ships into port, only the DD's to go. 1 BB badly damaged, 2 moderately (but can still be used). 1 CL moderately and about 6 DD's in various levels of damage. Kendari roads are overflowing with ships brining in fuel and supply. It will cat a s a base for FT TF to operate from.

Philippines
Moving troops around. Only Bataan and Clark is allied. On Davao the island is about 50% cleared. Elsewhere we are going around cleaning up small bases.

Australia
We raid Darwin again causing light damage. There is still a DD and SS listed as being in port there.

KB plays in Bass strait. A number of TF around trying to make port at Portland and Qeenstown. We also hit Melbourne port to find more warships tied up alongside!

Ship wise Shinano and Musashi are halted. CV Junyo and Hiyo, CVL Shoho and Ryuho and CVE Unyo accelerated.

We are considering returning to the East Coast of Australia again in fairly short order. There are stacks of ships, they are damaged and can't move far or fast... If we can kill more of the xAP's we will severely limit their attack options in 1942.

Those are probably the small APs, but they are very helpful in landing at undeveloped or very small ports as they are all under 6000 tons. KUDOS!! [&o]

I have been playing both sides and I have put PBYs at both Sydney and Hobart (combine all the BFs on Tasmania into one) to have a warning of what you just did.

I hope a Naval HQ is on their way to Kendari to help with damages along with an AR.

I like Denpasar off the southern tip of Suva to isolate the island and it cannot be reached by land units.

In Tracker, pull up the Air Production Tab, then Engines, and finally Planning. This will allow you to look ahead 12 months to see where your engine needs are. A great tool. [:)]

On Luzon, I would hit both Clark and Bataan as you need those Air Supply hits to kill supply. It may be hard to take Clark until he runs out of it.

So production Part 2

Engines.
Ha-35 (Zero, Oscar). We are building 236 (74) in three factories of 180 (0), 28 (52) and 28 (22) and have a pool of 131. We probably made a mistake here and should have had only 2 factories producing, and the third should have been producing Ha-32 (Sally, Betty).

Ha-33 (Nell, Val, Jake, Mavis; Judy, Tony to come). We have 93 (37) and a pool of 45, although Nell is currently "off", in a single factory. This is about right at the moment.

Ha-32 (Betty, Sally; Emily, Jill, Jack, Frances to come ). We are building 87 (33) no pool. We are underdone here and need another factory urgently.

Ha-31 (Dinah II, KAIc Nick, Topsy II) . We are building 45 in a single factory and have a pool of 255. 255 will get the Dinah through to the next version that uses a different engine, and the Nick version doesn't come on line until mid 1943, we may have an engine spare. Topsy II is no benefit over Topsy I, So this is one option to change engines from.

Ha-34 (Helen, Tojo) . We are building 32 (8) in a single factory and have a pool of 26. We will continue to ramp this up and may need another factory in a couple of months.

Amakaze (Glen) . Producing 11 in a single factory, pool of 120. We have enough engines for 12 months of Glen production now. We could change this factory over to Ha-32...

Ha-5 (Topsy, MC-21 Sally) . Building 7, pool of 95. We could turn this off. Topsy II uses Ha-31.


So we have three factories that we can use to change to Ha-32...

Some days it just isn't fair being Allies at this stage of the war. They intercet KB with a sub, get a hit on Shokaku, but it doesn't go bang... next combat animation is us getting a hit on Lady Lex in the Marshalls (which we anticipated they would raid). Sux to be Allies:)

The naval aviation doesn't cover itself in glory this turn.

The fleeing ships from Batavia and Sorebaya. Mini KB is off the Batavia end, but as the targets are small it doesn't lanuch, prefering instead to Port Attack Merak. Our Netties form Sinkawang sortie... but focus on attacking PT boats... which they fail to hit.

In the south the Nettis main effort is supporting the landing at Denpasar, which falls easily and Betties and Zero's immediatly fly in to the undamaged airfield... they will have fun next turn.

Intentions. KB is retiring to refuel rearm, and then will raid again... target depend on what intel we get on enemy CV's.

We will probably realign boundaries soon. Assuming Singapore falls quickly I'll take over resonsibility for Jave to add to Sumatra and Burma. 1 Div will go to Burma, 3 (plus whatever Tony can free up) will go to Java. Once Java is secure they will plan/prep for Ceylon or southern India.

Once Clark falls, we will siphon off force for Java and for SWPAC. Until then we will do what we can with the 5-8 SNLF sized units. Targets are clean up DEI in particular Timor, maybe an Aussie base or three and Port Moresby. Options beyound that inclued New Caledonia, Fiji and the Line Islands as smash and grab raids.

We want to threaten Australia so they pull AIF squads into the Militia units, and don't use them to reform the 8th Division.

I'm tempted to try and free up some units for the Aleutions...
