So the Russians now have to fight forward in terrain less favourable to defence- and the troops will be moving forward on foot because all the railcap will be used trying unsuccessfully to evacuate industry which doesn't appear to produce anything again untill 100% damage is repaired? So they will win less battles and if that isn't enough, gain less morale from the few they do win.
Having played both sides in PBEM and a handful vs AI, I can see what the Russians can become in a few months if they're allowed to build up. But then no aggressive German player will let them. An aggressive German will wipe the floor with Russia by October, no? And one of the reason's they are able is that rail is re guaged artificially fast. In which case, the rule changes would seem to compensate the German for faulty tactics. Maybe I've been playing the wrong opponent, I'd love to play a Russian who can prove me wrong, but in the meantime, could we please have the option of bug fixes without the rule changes?
I think the rules change will be for the better. Once they come out there will be games and once T53 comes around they might retweak.
But as it was i got the snot kicked out of me by ara lost 4 million men. 42 started and i still was able to kick the snot out of him in may 42 on panzer stacks. Not units that overextended but units in line that i could get enough corps to smack him with. Cool you should AAR it. It's always nice seeing a good aar.

Why full FOW? I didn't play that with Bill. Home in few hrs or less.
I know his settings, we discussed a game a few days back. I prefer to let my planes do my recce, but even with full FOW you get some clues as to if there's an enemy unit where you're going. I'll look forward to the game.

Any of you guys want to, and have time, to put it to the test? I'd love to see a Russian defence able to stop me. Well, I'd have mixed feelings of course, but I'd suffer the indignity of losing for the sake of giving the Russians a chance.
I'm be happy to play you using the current version and that we stay on that version so you can see what I had to go through up to 42. Anything less that that and it wouldn't be comparing similar experiences. You might even convince me to play on with the new patch (so we didn't have to swap WarinTheEast.exe each time we wanted to play new version). I don't think the new patch addresses all the issue facing the axis, but it's a start.
I've seen some people boast about no real play balance issues or that maybe several of us don't know how to play axis (including ComradeP). I think that is garbage because they have absolutely no proof of this statement, just a lot of nonsense talk IMO.
So you want some 'indignity ', I'll be happy to oblige. Even though I've never played more than 1 turn against a non-AI. I think bwheately would be a better person to give you some perspective on all the axis short comings. Would bet the house in this current version he'd mopped the floor with you. That's just my opinion. [;)]
[X(]
There should be a game out there for a 41-45 campaign for axis player... if nobody has taken it since am
oh lord don't go putting words in my mouth.

And i don't think i'd ever tell someone i'd mop the floor with them. It's more about having fun for me. You win some you lose some but enjoy the journey. The system let me have such fine fighting units. Losing those extra million soviets from the manpower modifier is certainly going to help keep soviet CV down for awhile longer. I don't think i could lose 4 million with the new patch then start smacking panzer stacks around in may 42. You'd have to be a lot more cautious. Though i also found out from my last play through that leningrad really isn't as important as you think. Next time i won't commit 750k guys to it's defense only to get them isolated. I'll high tail it out. The finns are more of a liability to the axis then anything. At least from my pbem games. Even with less soviet men that would keep the leningrad front stagnant. The finns won't be able to push alone into soviet territory past winter. Come spring 42 their morale will be a pain. You will find them crumpling under soviet masses. That is if you can dedicate the resources to attacking in the north.

I can later when I get home. Why full FOW? I didn't play that with Bill. Home in few hrs or less.
Neat feature looks kinda nice
Game play tip: Movement FOW takes away an “enhanced recon”
feature caused by the nature of the movement system, but at a cost in
play time. Basically, you will have to make an increased number of shorter
moves when using move FOW as you won’t be allowed to move far into
enemy territory. Ultimately your unit can cover the same ground, but with
more mouse clicks and more individual moves. Also, it won’t be as easy
to determine the fastest path to an enemy hex deep in enemy territory.

Yea i actually think movement FOW is better idea. I never played with it before because i didn't bother to RTFM
Thanks for englighten me i think i'll be a MFOW fan.

I like movement FOW a lot too, it's a lot better than standard FOW/many wargames where you can guesstimate enemy positions by seeing how far you can advance and where.

Well the mopping the floor is just my opinion and like I said would put good money on you with THE CURRENT VERSION to do that against any axis opponent. The upcoming changes, might not make it a mopping..lol. But, I'm not convince it will still allow for a possibility for something close to historical in 42 for any axis offensives. This is assuming the axis don't get destroyed in 41.
I don't plan to play my sov game with anything but the current release(v 1.03 beta 2). Want to expose somebody to want it was like walking in my shoes as axis.

I really don't think there needs to be people called imbeciles or idiots. I would venture most people here have read quite a bit on the subject, though the take might be a bit different. To progress in any of this requires the interaction to be thoughtful and intelligent, not full of vitriol and bile.
For me, I tend to take the words of any who use such retorts with less regard than someone who is not only well versed, but thoughtful of the other persons points of view.
My 2 cents.

+1 for people using respectful tones and active listening.
Frustration can boil over it occasionally (which i've been guilty of myself) but it shouldn't be a habit.

Assuming Berlin hasn't been overrun by the asiatic hordes before then, I'll start posting my first AAR when the mud sets in. That should avoid giving too much intel.

I don't like the Movement FOW. Sounds like from the game play tip it could greatly increase overall turns. I can turn it on for you, but don't seem like the option is were the time investment. Turns already take up to hrs for me. Sorry, just don't have that much free time and it would take away from the enjoyment. So if you like have posted new game for you.

Ok, I understand, I spend hours on turns too, but FOW's an important feature for me, one that takes PC gaming beyond anything board games could offer. I've had some other offers so I'll explore them. Thanks anyway.

The way it should work, is once a factory is below 50%, the chance it will produce on any given turn is equal to:
100-current damage
So a 30 damaged factory has an 70% chance of producing in any given turn.
I'm pleased to say this was nothing more than outrageous and sustained bad luck. Still damaged, my factories are now rolling out quantities of armour to flesh out my empty brigades.
Speaking of which, I find it impossible to build divisions from rifle brigades. They have movement points, are in supply, have the same HQ, are not naval brigades, but they just won't combine. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

If you play 1.03 Beta 2 before May-1942 there is a new rule:
- Restricted Soviet Rifle brigades so they can’t merge into Rifle Divisions prior to May-1942.

Here's the list for the v1.03 beta 3 that we have so far, although there are a few more items that have been done that aren't yet in the list. Also, more may get done before we're ready to post a version for the public.
Any clues as to when that might be please? Days or weeks?

We put what we hoped would be the final exe and data files for 1.03 beta 3 today. Of course one small bug has already been found already. If things go well in test we'd like to get it released early next week.
