I'll be posting pictures of T3 later. Nothing much happened but a few minor encirclements. The brave russian soldier fighting on. Finally have a few units approaching 50 morale at least. :)

No, you were just facing overwhelming nerfing: -20% morale, -50% forts all but guaranteed that he would steamroll over you. His taking of Pskov on turn 2 showed you were too weakened by these. He could even be exceedingly reckless with his tanks and you could do nothing.

I am not sure the justification for these lowering of levels, but it really proves nothing.

Your first game gave good information on the state of the game. This game doesn't do that due to the irregular settings. I imagine that your opponent might be having a fine ol' time with rampaging Panzers; hopefully he realizes the settings are bunkus and offers a restart....

It certainly prove that the levels were unwarranted. :)

Yea that was my point too we can't show anything on teh state of the game unless we use default settings.

You should really start again using beta 5 and switch sides if your opponent thinks the game is still unbalanced. Alternatively you could play beta 5 keep the same sides and set the Soviet morale at 90%. Even a 10% reduction in morale is a huge handicap between reasonably equal players. In terms of helping us determine where the real game balance stands, playing at 100% levels is much more helpful, especially since you have a prior game to compare it to.

BTW I think -20% morale hit you far worse than -50% forts, but both rules are crazy and totally unnecessary. See Joel's post for explanation how even a slight change in morale gives huge advantage to the other side.

Balance in this game is extremely nuanced and finely tuned. Changing things by 20 and 50% is like tuning a concert piano with an axe and monkey wrench....

Indeed, bwheatley you did a service to the community. Hopefully the "INSANE MADNESS HELP AXIS NAO!!!1111" threads will subside now that Ara's thirst for easy Axis victory has been quenched

Ya well it didn't end well. I said i'd finish playing this game even though it is as handicapped as our first game was where germany didn't have a chance. Then he suggested replaying at 100/100 with the exact same moves and i have no interest in that so the AAR is done. And it appears i'm looking for another opponent to keep my wite mojo going. :) Any takers just hit me up.

hehe Yea my defense wasn't the best either i have screens but now with the game done i won't bother. I was still a little pissed because i had units outside leningrad since t1 and they didn't have decent enough forts. So yea i won't be doing that 20 point morale hit and fort's being out of wack again.

And yea that's why i wanted to go back to 100/100 since that is what needs to be tuned not a custom game.

Heh, I'll play you (though I have only hotseated 1 on 1), but I insist on 100/100 and default forts.

I don't see where anyone would play under such a condition. I see AI only games in his future.

And, just for the record, I'm 0-2 as the Soviets. But I enjoy it.

He doesn't expect the same results with Beta 5 out does he? Beta 4 had a doozy of a handicap built in for the Soviets, being short of arms....

That he got to the Leningrad environs pretty fast doesn't concern me all that much. Just that he actually took it. Game = unfair. And trying to make someone recreate it = unfair.....
