i always meant to read that book......

It is worth it. It's a fast read, and better than the movie ( which is usually the case ).

I used to love the movie "The Caine Mutiny" until I found the book for a dollar at a used book store. I've read the book three times now and don't like the movie anymore.

Humphrey Bogart was in top form though. First class acting.

Yes he was. And I think saying a book is better than a movie adaptation is not necessarily condemning the movie.

Unless of course the subject is Raise The Titanic. Clive Cussler's book was brilliant, the film was an embarrasment

I agree. A movie is limited by technical possibilities. A book is limited only by imagination.

This thread needs more "Tiger scare" factor.
You need to be on the front line in Afghanistan.

What are you babbling about?

True, but those possibilities are becoming less and less limited all the time. I wonder how long it will be before they outstrip most peoples' imagination?

Yes it was - I could never remember the plot exactly and so read it about three times, like it was the first!! I must try and find my copy and re-read it.

Sorry Nik but I should really sue you for that "I loved the movie" comment. However, you admitted you were a kid so I am prepared to let you off on this occasion [;)] (Just don't say you liked Pearl Harbor!).

.

[:D] I like pictures of scary burning tigers, scary out-of-fuel tigers, scary flipped-over-by-bomb tigers, and scary shot-in-the-engine-by-an-M4-Stuart-tigers. It's almost like the Germans lost the war or something when you look at those. [;)]

Just ask what the English think about the Patriot or Braveheart movies, etc. :P

We feel about those films the same way as we do about ones having US submarines capturing enigma machines

Will someone please tell me what is the name of the film that must not be named? For me there can be no greater horror than 'pokemon- the movie'
