Looks like you will have a hard time taking Leningrad. I wouldn't retreat from the city now with so many dug in units and supply lines still open...

Turn 14, 9/18/1941
AGN
Not much progress, but two fresh panzer divisions arrive. At least we should be able to straighten the lines before mud.

Advancing in the south again. The rail to Orel got broken by a partisan, so there is no hope of using panzers there anymore. Just too little supply.

Turn 15, 9/25/1941
Counter-attack near Tula leaves 3 infantry divisions isolated.

This is how close we came to breaking the rail line to Leningrad.

Failure to cut the rail line to Leningrad has massive consequences. I still cannot believe how close we came. A small pocket will be the objective here, going into the winter. A breakout from Leningrad is surrounded, more POVs for us.

Moscow is too hard to assault head on, of course. We will try something new here, not halting for bad weather or snow. Some pockets should be possible.

An opportunity to surround some mountain divisions is most welcome.

It is remarkable how historical this game has proceeded. So I'm going to try the historical: not halting for mud or snow, but stay on the offensive.

Turn 17, 10/9/1941
Upgraded to 1.05.
Not the best preparations for winter, but then again, we're not going to prepare.

Infiltrating enemy units in the area near Tula and Orel could be a problem come mud.

Very pleased to capture 2 mountain units who will never come back (and 7 other units).

Turn 22, 11/13/1941, Snow
We press on, not making much progress. Moscow is very heavily defended.
AGN
Not much of a pocket. Still cannot believe how very close we came to cutting supply to Leningrad earlier. Now we'll never get the city.
