Great AAR! I'm only just making tentative steps towards learning how to play this mammoth game, so I'm afraid I can't offer any strategic advice. Although relative to other AAR's I've read your advance in the south seems very successful. Do you think that is due to reds withdrawal from the dnepr or the changes the new beta has brought? Have you managed to destroy many of the russian units? What is their strength a present? I hope you can continue the advance in the spring of 42. Onwards to Stalingrad!

As far as my advance in the south this primarily by design by sacrificing my more northern drives on Leningrad and Moscow. I let my wife decide on which three operations put forward. [:'(]. As far as Reds withdrawl that is only attributed to my major pincer drives from the north and the southern regions. The new beta had nothing to do with IMO.

As to OoB and units destroyed I plan on posting those with in a turn or two just before Soviet offensive actions. As far as advancing in summer of 42 that remains to be seen, hopefully the new beta will help in that aspect. [&:]

Looking at the position of 11th and 17th army, won't they be in a bulge screaming to be cutoff?

Actually, I think keeping the transports in Russian during the winter is not a bad idea. Logistics frankly suck and if you need to get some fuel to some panzer divisions, airdropping supplies gives you the option to do so, because they won't get much gas otherwise.

As far as the bulge goes CF I decided to keep as much forward ground as possible.  I probably will have to pull back do to supplies MP's I'm guessing.

I've thought hard on the transport idea Klydon.  I agree with keeping transports around during winter operations but I want to consolidate them into one large force first.  Then I want to be able to place them in the best possible position when I think the time is right.  So far my transport efforts have been shattered by large interceptions and lack of proper escort [:(].

Yep, there is an issue with the transports getting shot down in droves and just general attrition on them. Not sure if you are trying to run them at night or not, but perhaps set them up to run at night and see what happens. You won't get much fighter escort during winter anyway.

Overall situation is one of major supply problems. I have pulled back where I need to be in supply, which hasn't been to bad given my rail lines in the south having movement issues do to enemy forces.

Here is a little propaganda....just so you know I don't condone the Nazi party or their flags but it hard to find good propaganda that doesn't have this junk in it. I do have some more future stuff that has little of their fluff in it.
I have heavily modified the picture to not show the Nazi stuff but I couldn't resist her cute little face [;)]

Front line trace 10-23-41

I'm on the defensive now, trying to dig in somewhat. In the south I plan on using a fall back defense. In the north I hope is offensive is slowed by lack of unit depth, terrain and depth of defensive positions. I have been holding off moving most of my mobile units during the mud for fear of loosing some vehicles to the quagmire, does anyone know if this helps? I will monitor the situation closely.

I was wondering if my panzer logger positions where far enough behind the lines or should I send most off to Germany for refit and rest there?

Supply SITREP 10-23-41

Here is my unit supply situation and rail system. I could of planned a bit better in AGS.

Looks like the Valdi Hills area is going to be tough to get into good supply anytime soon, even if you moved repair units in that direction now. The other issue is there isn't much done in the way of north/south lines making it harder to move reserves up and down the line.

Overall, it looks like the line is fairly straight, although you will likely have to pull back a bit more in the south or risk him trying an encirclement trying to trap your units there.

Are you planning on rebuilding those divisions? If I were the Soviet player I would hammer those regiments for all the easy wins to create as many guards units as possible.
