I have loaded the SubmarineReporter_B11a, made the settings as they should be, turned on macros. All I can load is the last day's Allied sub kill (6/4/1943). I have tried to load other allied days and other japanese days with nothing loading. When I do an archive load, there will be a small window flash, then it jumps to the combat reports tab with no data.

I have no error messages. What am I missing, please?

HI,

I have been experiencing the same problem and have spent the past 24 hours trying to narrow down the problem.
The error is caused (in part) by a timing issue related to background overhead when copy/pasting. A similar issue exists that relates to file locking. A new version has been sent to Richard for review. This version attempts to mitigate these problems. Some new code exists that currently is restricted to run under pre MSO 2007 versions that is a slightly slower version of the Copy/Paste mechanisms that could be enabled for general use if your problems have not gone away. Please let us know more on this!

I have not yet addressed the notice posted about the apparent change in date formats. This will be addressed today.

Watch out in the meantime for new Beta Release from Richard.

FWIW, I am running Excel 2003. I tried dates in both mm/dd/yyyy and dd/mm/yyyy format. I tried different dates also.

Thanks Nashvillen

Richard is currently running tests under a VM and Excel 2003 and some issues have been identified.

It is still WIP though.

Oh and the date issue has been resolved. Code sent to Richard earlier today to sort this out.

Yes, it is new file with no records.

You can copy all records from old file (11a) and paste it to new file. Then you must manually refresh data ranges for pivot tables in MONTHS sheet, or just simply import another combat report (with Import reports or IR from archive functions) and pivot tables will be refreshed automatically.

Looks like a cool tool.  Is there an ETA as to when it will run under Excel 2003?[:(]

Nope... I have been experimenting with a VMware based installation of XP and MSO 2003. Problem is that I have an original Dutch XP install CD, an original XP English Update CD from a few years earlier and a missing copy of a standard XP EN CD. So I installed the Dutch version in the Virtual machine followed by and English MSO.

When I test the VB code Excel complaints are triggered about missing libraries.

Worse I don't have an iso save anywhere so that I can recreate the darn CD.... otherwise I would already have installed a more consistent arrangement. I am not yet certain though with this language difference is the root cause though.

So I am kinda stuck at the moment.

Ya got me..... [;)]

I have already come across this bug and fixed it.
I found a couple of other things I did not like too much either (Can't remember exactly what now) and have been testing some more.

This version is still for MSO 2007 and later though.

A new 'unofficial' Beta Version 1.3 is attached. The formal release will need to be done by Richard.

For the record, I have been using this version 1.3 every single day since I posted it here. I have not found any further problems with it.

I am very happy with its behaviour indeed. This was an excellent idea and tool from Richard.

PS. Happy New Year to all

Agreed - I wonder it Richard would mind if I ported it to Java/C# or eventually into Tracker ?

Hmmm...

COBOL - Common Business Oriented Language
FORTRAN -Formula Translation
ALGOL - Algorithmic Language
PL1 - Programming Language 1
ADA - A Data Algorithm
RPG 1/2/3 Report Program Generator 1/2/3
ALL A Language Liberator
BASIC - Beginners All Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code
...

I think you get the drift....

And then of course we also have

B - Bell Labs predecessor of C
C - The standard by which all things were measured from.
C++ - C on steroids
C# - C out of key. The M is for Microsoft not Musicality

JAVA - Just Another Virus Application.

Har Har... need I go on??? !!!

I suggest you PM Richard and get his opinion.
For my part I do not expect he would have a problem, I certainly don't.

Well almost...

If you were to include this in Tracker, given the rate of release, would you finish the upgrade in this half of the current year?

Too right ... we only did it in Java originally cause Floyd and I wanted to learn the language a bit more... the joy ran out a while ago ...

At the rate we've proceeded last year, I'd say not until the end of the decade.[;)]

Actually having thought about it more, it will probably never get into Tracker so it would be better for Bret from combatReporter to roll it in.

The program is good as is, except for xls users who are behind the times. Maybe I shouldn't be reinventing any wheels.

I'm just looking for a winter project to keep me occupied - maybe I should go back to working on my game ideas or God forbid my research for work [8|]

+1

Agreed on all accts. I love on my desktop, but I have to run '03 on my laptop so it won't run there. getting it folded into reporter would be perfect. then I only have to start TWO apps, not THREE!!! [:D]

To N01487477

I have a project in mind that will require some sophisticated academic skills.

How up to speed are you with Linear and Non-linear Programming in the context of Operations Management or the Quantitative Management domain?
