From what I've read so far I'm guessing that FITE2 is NOT Rons Mod. True?
EDIT: The reason I'm asking is that Fogger and I are going to playtest the change we've made in Ron's Mod.

FITE2 is a completely new scenario. New OOB, New Map (size and scale) and will only work with 3.5

that decision should be "rethinked"

The reason FITE2 needs TOAW 3.5 is the number of events and the size of the map, I'm guessing, which means it may be a while
before this scenario sees the light of a public day. Meanwhile we have Ron's Mod to work with and I'm playtesting it with Fogger even
as we speak. I expect to see the first turn from Fogger any minute now.

The research is done and we are putting in the units as i am writing this.
The map is from West of Berlin to Sverdlovsk at the Urals, from Murmansk to Tabriz in the South. It has around 14-16000 units dont worry they are not all on map at the same time.
The road is still long and indeed we need the final version og 3.5 to be able to play it properly.

I am a huge fan of FITE and would love to see a few things changed or added in order to make this outstanding scenario even better. We need to find some way to allow the game to stay competitive for the Germans until summer of 43. Perhaps finding a way to induce the Russians to stand and fight in 41 as they did in real life. Allowing them to retreat with a largely intact army in the summer of 41 makes them too strong in the spring of 42. I'd like to see more flexibility in the production system so the player can decide to produce more tanks or planes than artillery or infantry. The way production is handled in "A world divided" is what I mean...you get production points and can spend them how you like. And finally the air combat system needs improvement.

Hello Bibbo
There is a lot to stay forward for the Russians.
1. To have time to move its factories. (This also reduces their rail capacity to move troops)
2. Their movement is low compared to supplied Germans
3. To prevent German Shock ( This likewise propels the Germans in 3 directions north center and south, or they lose shock)
4. German war booty. Equipment (Captures Russian) will become greater than historical if they advance faster than historical
The Soviets are weaker in 1941. Production starts in December (they receive squads though).
Fall blau (Case blue) is a powerful German theatre option offensive that will force the Soviets to concentrate on what they want to hold.
Start 1943 just when the Soviet winter offensive stops, they receive another powerful TO, to stabilize the front.
But form there except Zitadelle, it all down hill

Hello Guys.
Seems we hit a dead end. Contrary to the statement about 3.5.042 it doesn't hold 10.000 units per side, but only 5.000. Ouy only hope is that Ralph comes back and fixes it.
The issue with current versions is a few bugs and the naval issues. As naval issues are not really a problem, we actually only need a quick fix and a release of the 3.5 in its current form, as to my knowledge. I am however not involved in the process, that are currently at a standstill, so i can't be certain.
Other than that everything is good to go. OOB, Equipment, To&e, graphichs, everything.
Lets hope Ralph comes back
Regards
Søren

Doc,
An apology in advance - I have not been keeping very active in these forums despite many years of enjoyment with TOAW - hence I'm not up-to-date on the current status of FiTe, though I have read most of the above threads with interest. Nonetheless - I have recently been playing the FiTe version that is currently appended to the Rugged Defence site which I believe is quite an early version of what is a great scenario. It is a huge effort in itself and a credit to your team.
Some feedback from my experience -
1. The scenario was both engrossing and enjoyable - despite what I believe has been a significant Axis loss.
2. My opponent is a highly skilled aficionado of TOAW - who quickly grasped the need to withdraw his Soviet forces - and prepare for a massive winter offensive (and the need to quickly force the game into attrition-warfare while building for his assaults)
3. At times during the initial Axis assault phase it took every possible ounce of multi-phase effort to breach Soviet lines and create break-through conditions - which felt at-odds with the accounts of even Typhoon-phase assaults waltzing through the Soviet lines (4th Panzer's coup-de-main at Orel or 10th Panzer capturing Yukhnov)
4. Notwithstanding the serious degradation of Soviet forces, and capture of Leningrad/Smolensk/Bryansk/Kharkov/Dnepropetrovsk/Zaporozhe - and extreme effort to place well-supported units in well-defended/supplied locations (in almost all cases adjacent to fully repaired rail lines) for winter, my lines gave way easily during the turns of Soviet winter shock - and at this point the Wehrmacht has lost 16th and 11th Armees, the bulk of 4th Panzer Armee and I have raised the hopeless white flag of conciliation.
5. This was despite me deliberately avoiding the incredible exertions that would have been required in an Operation Typhoon - I was adopting the Von Rundstedt suggestion of waiting-out the winter in heavily fortified lines.
5. Wherever I attempted to hold - Demyansk-style - the Soviet's simply steamrolled and destroyed the lines.
While I would say that the winter campaign losses were mostly my own-goal (not building sufficient interior reserve groupings and not recognising my opponent could choose the timing of his 10-turns of shock) the definte impression I got was that I was a) outclassed on the battlefield - quite probably - but also b) the Soviet challenge is really how fast they can withdraw, regroup and prepare the steamroller. The Axis players challenge seems on-balance the harder of the two.
From the above it appears some others have attempted to address perceived Soviet balance. Is this correct and can you point me in the right direction on where I can obtain the revision. But also- have you thought about just continuing to revise the older version or even create what-if scenarios from its base?
I'd be very interested.
Regards

Hello Morshead. (and all others)
The first Fite is made for the old version og TOAW and with the limitations it provided. Usually it ends with a German Victory;)
HOWEVER GOOD NEWS!, Fite 2 is now going at full steam, and only with a few weeks in delay. Ralph fixed the limitations (HURAAA)
So any play testers will be welcome around christmans time. More information later.

Status on Fite2:
- We are putting the finishing touch on the Soviet and the minors.
- Equipment file is almost done, with unique calculations for every piece of equipment.
- A new version of TOAW that holds the formations and number of units is created (Thanks Ralph) so all is working as it should it seems.
The scenario should be open for beta testing in January/February possible before that. In that regard we need a few people that are willing to test the scenario for errors. More on this later, but if you are interested keep in touch.
If you want to look at the oob and files and want to be a beta tester you can pm me, og send a mail at
