There was another nighttime surface scurmish next to HK at Swatow. My DMS ships sunk two of them and sent them running. Cool. Maybe I can finish them off today and be done with them. I'm wondering if I can run enough DMS ships in at night to clear the minefield and be gone before morning so as to avoid most of the coastal gunfire. Just a thought.

I did some light bombardment of Wake overnight. It didn't do much damage. The surface assets that did the bombardment skedaddled way way south to avoid any air strike from Wake but there doesn't seem to be any planes at Wake so maybe that wasn't necessary. At any rate the transports carrying the Wake invasion forces are nearing the Island and I've got an AO headed that way so things seem to be going pretty good so far. I'm thinking I sent the KB to head to Wake also.......for backup.

In addition to the sub attacks there was this daytime surface attack by the Allied PT boats. There wasn't any damage listed. This attack happened twice and neither time was any damage listed.
The landings are going on as we speak and more transports are enroute. I don't see the PT boats listed on the map anywhere so I'm not sure where they are now. I've also got some transports headed from Saigon, Samah, and Cam Rahn Bay toward Miri and Brunei and they should land sometime either tonight or early tomorrow morning. I'm guessing. More likely in a day or two, now that I get a second look at the map.

Rob has been hitting me with his B-17's both day before yesterday and yesterday. Not much damage is ever done by them and I moved a fighter squadron in there for CAP but that didn't deter or damage them this time. Those things are really hard to shoot down. I think the most I've ever gotten was a B-17 damaged. I think maybe the only way to destroy one of those is catching it on the ground.

We have a situation developiing here on the east coast of the PI. There's about 4 groups of Allied boats fleeing from Manila of which some are headed east across the Pacific and some are headed southeast right into the path of my landings at Davao and Legaspi, which I don't need right now. I'm thinking I'm going to have to pursuit some of them with my surface assets and some of them with the air assets I have at hand. I'd like to be able to sink all of them of course but I'm thinking some of them might get through to safety.

The ground bombardment at Kota Bhura wasn't all that remarkable. I need some more reinforcements there obviously. So I'll just defend there until they arrive.

According to the economic chart I'm using HI points faster than I'm producing them. I guess I should expand some of my HI facilities.

No you're not. Producing 13900. Using 8206. +/- = 5694 positive HI.
[edit] What's happened to your airframes ?

Very nice AAR. I'm learning a lot from these discussions.
Do check your airframe production though!

I agree with Damiens question. That picture shows you are making 2 aircraft per month. [&:][X(]

I bumped up the B5N2 Kates but the factories are taking their sweet time repairing. I feel kinda stupid about misreading the HI points. I still have a lot to learn. Thanks everybody for your help.

Hey Larry, it's me again. [:)]
You are producing too many merchant yard points. You can stop some merchant yards, accelerate some TK/AOs or convert some merchant yards to naval yards.
Regarding to your plane production, you are producing too few Ocars, Zeros and Val. Around 80 - 100 for Oscar and Zero is ok in my opinion. Val should be produced in same numbers as Kate. The Betty production can also be higher.
The best way is to check your losses and pool numbers reguarly and adjust your production as needed. Keep in mind to track and adjust your engine pool/production. I prefer to spread a production of 80 or 100 planes over several plants ... because changing one big plant to another plane (not in upgrade path) cost you 80-100 days of repair until it runs at full capacity again.
You should upgrade all frontline Claude units to Zero and all frontline Nate units to Oscar. Also keep in mind that there are 3 different oscars (1a,1b,1c). I would concentrate on producing the 1c and upgrade your oscar units slowly to 1c until the pool of 1a and 1b is completly empty. The training units can remain as Claude or Nate.
Regarding to training for fighters, I always use range 0, alt 10.000, 100% training with Escort.

I went through the list of available ships and turned off the HA subs and the RO subs. And all the xAKL's and xAK's because I think maybe I'm going t have enough of those for a while. I accelerated an AO and a TK.

I bumped up the Betty, Val, Zero, and Kates. The Oscars didn't have enough supply at the city to bump up yet.

Rob isn't making my landings on the northern tip of PI any easier. He's parked some ships right in my landing zone, he's running his subs through my shipping lanes, and I was going to lay some more mines at the entrance to the Manila harbour but I don't see any anchor symbol so I'm guessing all the ships are already fled.

The situation is getting really confusing with all the Allied ships fleeing south and me trying to catch 'em all. Some of them are going to get through I'm guessing.
