Just as 2 German div in Lvl2 forts in wood terrain are a key to surviving blizzard (your wonderful advice to me), "training" a newborn into a family routine will give more time for the new Mom to rest and you to play WITE. The recipe : 1) a strict every 3 hour feeding schedule 7A to 10P, 2) a strict 10P to 7A near continous aleep achieved in 2 weeks by a) putting the just fed infant in a pitch-black room with background neutral noise (loud hum of a fan) b) allowing the baby to fuss for 10 minutes (yes 10 minutes) prior to picking up/changing the diaper/comforting the tyke and c) not feeding until the 2 AM feeding while continuing to do b). By two weeks the child will be trained and your WITE time will be preserved. You're welcomed

Well he is 18 months old now. And he goes bananas when he doesn't get his way. Any advice?

MT, I have become somewhat of a pediatric behavorist with 1/2 of my practice so focussed. Also I have the unique distinction of being the only solo practicing pediatician (there are four of us in Natchez that share call) in the south with a full time paid LCSW on staff to exclusively counsel patients or parents. I am not boasting for studies show that active cognitive behavioral intervention more than triples the benefits in treating ADHD, depression, and other childhood mental disorders with medication alone.

So for that being said, you face the dilemma parents face with sons that are likely to be oppositional and defiant. About 1/10 boys are such and are likely to be not only the first boy, but oldest child. Their challenge is they simply will not take no for an answer. They will vex all unprepared parents. Know that these youngster can, as mature adults, accomplish great things with their driven personalities. So at an early age, let's say 18 months, a "no" simply means no and there is no arguing (or screaming. throwing himself down on the ground, hitting, etc.) that they can do to change your response.

How do you respond to the screaming, throwing himself down on the ground, and hitting , etc. ??? First raising your voice or initiating some physical restraint (I am not talking about corporal punishment, which by the way does have useful role after 4 years of age IMO) merely aggravates the situation and worsens the temper tantrum. Calmly ignore it if it does not invovle 1) dangerous behavior to himself or others or 2) communicates extreme (stress extreme) disrespect or disobedience to you.

Now also having a talent for discerning personality types (I am not boasting) and their predictable behavior, individuals like you (this is my surmise it might be wrong, however 80 % likely) do not like the unexpected conflicts and upset of the type that this tyke will frequently generate. So ??? Develop thick skin or you will frustrate yourself. Since bright men almost always marry personality opposites, stand back and learn from your wife (who will more naturally and appropriately deal with your son.)

This advice is sound, but will offer little succor in the near future. Long term it will be priceless.

The other thing to do is to teach him how to play WITE; works everytime.

Good advice Hitman and it is exactly what my wife is telling me. But none the less its no walk in the park. But he is a smart kid and delightful most of the time [:)]

@Marquo, he has on occasion sat on my knee and observed the WITE map, I am not so foolish as to try and actually do a move with him anywhere near the keyboard though.

Are you going to give Bobo another "chance" to beat you ??? Would this be the fourth ???? I know 3 matches would be a trilogy (for you a "three-peat... or maybe more appropriately a three-beat), so would the fourth be the MT-Bobo Saga ??? Are you going to play clean this time ??? Fess up !!! Bobo must have been a victim of the recent "quirk" you discovered and reported on the Tech Support. You sounded a little guilty. Fess up MT !!! I was wondering how you were getting so much gas to your Pz's.

I wonder what tricks Alexander the Great used. Copy-cat !!!!

I bet you gave Flaviusx a few bad night's sleep.

Your're reputation is growing. I bet Pelton is even impressed. Could he even be an "in the closet" MT fan ???

I think in a 3 row is enough. You get to keep the trophy after that don't you? [;)]

Good stuff have your read How Children Succeed by Paul Tough?

Good stuff that explains allot of things I am sure all of use have witnessed first hand.

Raising kids "most" poeple have little trouble 0-12ish, its not to hard to figure out the general ways to raise 95%(sounds like Hitman gets to have fun with the 5%) of kids during that time frame, love and structure.

Having coached 100's of junoir high to high school kids boys and girls, the major time frame parents drop the ball is 13-18. Most parents stop being parents and try to be their kids buddies. Kids will generally tell Dad and Mom what they want to hear and the parents that are tring to be there buds generally turn there heads the other way. Its sad because once things hit the fan so to speak the kids will generally tell me an some times there parents they had wished they had simply said no.

Sadly generally speaking you give a teenager enough rope they could hang them selfs.

Even my 21 yr old son ( 2 yr degree, working and moving into his own appartment May 1st) I tell him when hes taking chances. Some times hes about to do something I did as a dum ass 20 yr old ect. Its still his choose to make, but atleast he has the knowledge of what to do if something starts to go bad. We have enough respect for each other to hear each other out.

I am finding the hardest thing is when they are men or women to let them do there thing, but if we have done our job as parents our kids will have the tools to learn from there mistakes. Get up and move on to the next success or failure.

Kids that never fail tend to never succeed as adults. Read the book its very eye openning and should be read by every new parent and school teacher.

For the record.

Robert approached me for the game.

I did not use Mega fuel harvest 3.0 in this game or any other.

Well you know Pelton this is the second fuel bug I have found. And twice there have been veiled accusations that I have used said bug as exploit. Next time I find a bug I am going to keep it to myself and shutup. Let someone else take the flak. You think you are doing the right thing by reporting a bug but then all you get is mud thrown at you. Why bother. I will just leave it alone from now on.

I reported the National Morale bug over a yr ago and took nothing but sht for it only to be proven I was right all along, fort decay bug, 1v1=2v1 freak show, The Middle Earth Blizzard effects, retreat losses(still needs more nerfing}, C&C issues with GHC and SHC ,88mm bug and now this stupid Wolf and Bear armament bug.

If you have a bug I will report it for you.

Poeple don't even like to post tactics they use (JB) as they will take major poop for that.

I agree. I stopped commenting on detailed tactical methods a long time back. Best to just play and keep mouth shut. Saves the greif.
