Not only have we made contact but intel reports are coming in of enemy movement.
There are enemy units moving through the area. There are several VL's that are becoming NATO controlled.

should the VP's even change color if we can't see it? Don't think we should see the VP color change until we have eyes on. Question- do units have to occupy VP's to keep control or just pass over, if they don't occupy to they revert to neutral?

In Europe there would be human intelligence for both sides. Pretty much at all times. It's something we've discussed before; for different conflicts that may change. For WWIII in Europe there will be moderate intelligence. This also takes into account recon elements from the air forces and special long range recon units.
Once a VL has been occupied by a side it stays controlled by that side until a unit of the opposing forces occupies it. There does not have to be unit garrisoning it to keep the VL controlled.
The only intelligence you get from a VL changing ownership is that there is an enemy unit of some kind there. Not if it stayed there or if it was a bicycle or an MBT. So, not much value in the end.
Good Hunting.

Then, all at once, the enemy unit is no longer in LOS.
We never even got a shot off at them...[&:]

This is what the operations center has to show us at the moment.
As you can see, it shows no enemy units, that our entire force consists of 624 small unit sections. (Either individual AFV, platoons or weapons sections.) Each section that we forces in is listed. Which means our force is made up of units in
Recon
Helo
Tank
Infantry
SPAT
HQ
Air Defense
SP Arty
Towed Arty
Transport
Close Air Support
All in all, a pretty balanced force.
Below that is specific equipment inventory and it's current status.
Good Hunting.

Now that we have contact what did we learn?
The enemy unit seemed to be a recon unit itself. The transport was a jeep and it was armed with an MG. No wonder they left the area.

MR,
Might be a good time to explain to the commanders what that white dot in the lower right of the BRDM counter means. [X(]

The white dot in the lower right hand corner of the unit counter means that the unit is spotted.
Both the enemy unit and our lead unit have the other spotted.

Also a good chance that contact was reported up the West German command chain. Did intel mention any enemy artillery in the area? [&:]

West Germans...ah, yes. That's what that gray color means.
Who knows what the West Germans have except a jeep with an MG?
At this point that's all we know they have.
What to expect....?
1989....either Leo 1's or Leo 2's if they have tanks. Marders or M113's. Not to mention that they will defend every foot of ground. [X(]
Good Hunting.
