OK, just how demented? Lets have a contest, one to ten. Rate post #53. 0 means I'm perfectly reasonable and sane. 10 means I'm a box of "Froot Loops". References to Cap'n Crunch and Lucky Charms will be discarded.

It's a 0 from me. You are quite clearly of sound mind, although I don't know if bringing Chickenboy's dick into it was wise?

I remember the time I took some Brits and it wasn't even funny. One of them said to me, "I'll give you one magic bean if you give me one acre worth of corn." So I said "I'll give you five acres worth of corn if you give me two magic beans." The other Brit said "My fellow bidder is taking you for an idiot. I'll not disrespect you and will give you one magic bean for six acres worth of corn." I took that deal and made monkeys of those guys. I sure know how to negotiate.

So what's the going rate in magic beans for a British monkey? I presume they still talk with that proper accent of theirs? Or ears of corn? I...wait..uh...huh?
warspite1

A monkey is £500. A magic bean is probably worth no more than a score in the current economic climate. So on that basis er.... 500 divided by 20 equals .....er.....25. So the answer is officially you can get 25 beans for a monkey, but I know a guy in Bow Market that can probably do you a deal - just say Warspite sent you.

Having a sensible grown up debate with you is clearly impossible.

Because I'm better at words than you are?

I have made quite clear that my opening remark may be incorrect - indeed I hope for the sake of peace in the region that it is.

Oh yes. You've made it quite clear. But you also want everyone to continue doubting. You're being disingenuous and your hand-wringing attitude is offensive. "They said they're sorry, and oh I sure hope they really are, but what if they aren't? What about that one guy who said they weren't that one time? It sure would be a shame if that somehow cancelled out all the other apologies they've made." It's like you're auditioning for a spot on Fox News - like it's your job to sow doubt and discontent against the Other.

May be its one of the above, may be, and more likely, its elements of all three. As I said I have an opinion formed, not through extensive reading of the situation, but through reading of the odd article, news program, tv documentaries down the years. The fact that I - and millions of others in east and west - have that opinion means something has got lost in the translation; the message, for whatever reason, isn't getting out there.

When some dingleberry says something stupid (typically at the cost of their job as a public official), it gets more news. You aren't going to read odd articles about Japan apologizing again.

Chickenboy, you are certainly one of the greatest dicks of all time, but it wasn't necessary for you to rub it in here. It matters not because all the dirt coming off the laundry kisses the washboard once, and only once, on the way down the drain. Chickenboy has already held his nose shut once and bobbed into oblivion, yet returned. Will he now give us instructions on how to do the same?

Jolly good, geofflambert. Mighty kind of you. Might I respond in kind by complimenting your utterly impenetrable and brainless alien pedantic psychobabble?

Your slight was unnecessary. Just trying to have a bit of fun here-as should have been obvious to all concerned.

When it becomes necessary to take your gibberish literally and seriously-that day you get the permanent green button. It's just not worth walking on egg shells with you.

We would consider a trade....sweetie for the return of Mark Carney and a future 1st round draft choice for the Edmonton Oilers!!??

As to the subs...is the USA still looking for targets? Do they have to be moving targets?

Hmmm tempting but Mr Carney seems to know what he's talking about. How 'bout, we get Eugenie AND keep Mark Carney and you keep the subs? There, I'm robbin' meself. [:D]

Sadly, you must really believe that; you said it with no hint of irony or embarrassment. Well Done.
But you also want everyone to continue doubting. You're being disingenuous and your hand-wringing attitude is offensive.

Maybe you are right with your first remark after all, because I am really struggling to answer this. Your reply is so completely and utterly nonsensical, so completely off beam, so remote from correctly referencing what I was saying and what I meant, that there are only two possibilities:

a) You are simply trying to cause trouble and an argument where none exists, or
b) You are a buffoon.

Now, as much as I would like to answer b) I suspect a) is the real answer. Either way you look like a buffoon. I want everyone to continue doubting? hand-wringing attitude? Offensive?

I'm trying to have a conversation about a subject I clearly know even less about than I thought. As ever, Mind_Messing and I disagree (at least at the start) but he can, as he's done with our previous debates, make his point without getting all hysterical and spouting conspiracy theories. NO you buffoon, I am not trying to make anyone believe anything, I am spouting an opinion while trying to be educated. Calm down dear its just a conversation....
You aren't going to read odd articles about Japan apologizing again.

Which, if you could be arsed to read, was precisely my point. My point of view, expressed in my first post is clearly the result of Japanese apologising not being newsworthy, but Japanese war crime denial being so. So the latter gets all the air time Why on earth was that so difficult for you to comprehend?

So just to make completely clear:

- I was wrong about the extent to which Japan have apologised for their war crimes.
- I believe however that Japan has made the situation (a situation her detractors are all too keen to exploit) worse by not being unequivocal in her denial (like the Germans for example).
