as there's only a few numbers, i have a thought, why don't you first copy them down, then using a auto dialer online and block those numbers for god as you can leave it also running, or send free texts to them with enough junk going there way it will stop, or put up a proper blocking to stop it at this end or evening mods to just delete / ban the accounts when the make and post such junk / spam

Usually, when I see obvious evidence of lousy thinking, I tend to conclude inability to actually be clever enough to warrant thinking they would be much of a challenge.

I don't think I'd be inclined to consider the web master at Matrix Games much of an opponent, if they can't cope with a typical spammer.

Look at the situation from a different angle, rather than prevent them from coming HERE, why not get rid of the HERE to come to?
The spammer is spamming ONLY the General Discussions forums. So, eliminate the destination. Eliminate General Discussions utterly. Copy the data that is present, create a new section, dump the data in the new section. The spammers would no longer have the destination to come to.

I don't KNOW that this would actually work.
But I DO know that whatever it is the site's web master IS doing, isn't worth squat.

well what ever happens, it needs to be sorted sooner rather than later, and software thats put in place could affect us all, a few forum mods wouldn't as on different time zones they would jump on it sooner and then this type of action would never be a problem, i've done it in the past and are wiling to do it again to keep the forum clean and working[;)]

150 pages of spam in less than 48 hours. [X(]

So in order to browse last weeks top threads then you just go back 150 pages. Sad really.

Yes. And even worse this time.

Hmm. I'm curious if Matrix is going to implement some sort of preventive measures against it now. Hopefully any preventive measures would involve maybe limiting posting abilities of new accounts or something? Or maybe bringing on some extra mods would be in order as Zakblood points out. It sounds like someone out there has some sort of personal vendetta against the forum. [:(]

They've already installed one thing - you cannot post consecutively within a certain time frame.

How long has that been in effect for? Do you know? Did they just implement it this morning? I'm assuming they must have since the spammer this morning apparently did 150 pages of spam.

I noticed it Sunday afternoon before the last spammer.

Edit: See post #: 45

Yeah, I noticed your post yesterday but then I noticed the edit where you thought maybe you were wrong. I wonder how the spammer this morning could have posted 150 pages if such a rule was in effect? [X(]

We will have to enforce more posting conditions, specially to the new users.

new users should be only able to post a certain amount per day until trusted status, eg past a certain level

I think you should stop Chickenboy from posting in order to try and raise the average quality of the posts around here....

I concur. Josh should be restricted too.
