Having made the trip from Sydney to Darwin on an FFG it takes about a 5 days of sailing, and a week is usually allowed to spare the engines a little and allow the crew to 'work up' on the way. Plus there are always maintainence and logistic issues to slow things down. Ammunitioning for example, is conducted a day or so away from Fleet Base East, and is a lengthy process.

If Brisbane was in port in Sydney 5 days earlier it's already making pretty good time.
